TROUBLESHOOTING
Plug into a grounded 3 prong outlet.
Do not remove ground prong.
Do not use an adapter.
Do not use an extension cord.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, fire, or
electrical shock.
PROBLEM
Espresso pours out slowly
or drips/not coming out
Coffee has no/poor crema
Espresso shot is not hot
enough
Milk system not providing
enough foam/not coming
out
Grinder is very
loud/strange noise
Bean hopper knob cannot
be locked into position
Screen states "Fill Beans",
but there are beans in the
Bean Hopper
If the problem cannot be corrected or Display is showing any type of error, please see

SOLUTION
Change grind to a coarser
option.
Reduce coffee dose.
Descaling is required
(see "Care and Cleaning"section).
Cleaning cycle is required
(see "Care and Cleaning"section).
Use fresh coffee beans.
Increase the brewing temperature
using the temperature
independent button in the
control panel.
Descaling is required.
Frothing should start with cold
milk, taken directly form the
refrigerator.
Refer to the "Clean Frother"
section.
Stop using. Contact KitchenAid
customer service.
Remove the Bean Hopper and
clear loose coffee beans or
grinds.
Adjust the grind size to a coarser
grind setting - different beans
have different rates of grinding
through the grinder. Darker roast
beans require a coarser grind
setting for optimal performance.
