OPERATING AND MAINTENANCE MANUAL
CENTRIFUGAL ELECTRIC PUMP INOX SERIES
3. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Before pump start-up:
1.
Make sure that the mains voltage and frequency are the same as on the nameplate.
2.
Make sure that the capacitor matches the requirements of the pump motor (for single-phase mo-
tors).
3.
Make sure that the pump is fully submerged (for submersible pumps).
4.
Check the direction of rotation.
5.
Never run the pump dry.
6.
Never change the position of the level switch set by the manufacturer.
7.
It is recommended to install a pipe with a larger diameter than the pump discharge to reduce friction
losses as much as possible.
INSTALLATION
The pumps must be installed in a dry, well-ventilated place with an ambient temperature below 40°C.
To avoid vibrations, the pumps must be fixed with special bolts on flat and solid surfaces. The pump
has to be completely horizontal to ensure the correct functioning of the bearing.
The diameter of the suction pipe must not be smaller than the diameter of the suction inlet; if the
suction height is greater than 4 metres, a larger diameter pipe must be used.
The diameter of the delivery pipe must be selected according to the flow rate and the pressure
required at the intake points.
The suction pipe must be slightly uneven on the way up to the suction inlet to avoid the formation
of air pockets.
Make sure that the suction pipe does not leak and that it is submerged in the water for at least half
a metre to prevent the formation of eddies.
A suction valve must always be fitted at the end of the suction pipe.
It is advisable to install a non-return valve between the delivery port and the flow control valve to pre-
vent water hammer in the event of the pump stopping unexpectedly. This is compulsory whenever
there is a water column of more than 20 metres in the delivery.
The pipes have to be fixed with appropriate flanges in such a way that no stresses are transmitted
to the pump casing.
Screw the pipes to the corresponding openings without forcing too much in order not to cause
damage.
