Installing the Blade

WARNING
maintenance on the mower blade. Always remove the battery packs when servicing or
transporting the mower.
NOTICE: To re-install or replace the blade, be sure to replace the parts exactly in the order in
which they were removed (Fig. 15).
a. Mount the adaptor onto the motor shaft.
b. Wearing protective gloves, position the blade on the adaptor with engraved arrows facing
toward the outside.
c. Mount the bolt into the shaft and turn it clockwise by hand to pre-tighten it.
d. Place a metal rod (e.g., a 3.5" (90mm) length screw bit) with diameter of 3/16" (4.8mm) into
the aligned holes to act as a stabilizer.
e. Use the blade wrench (provided) to tighten the bolt clockwise. The recommended torque for
the blade bolt is 22–26 ft-lb (30–35Nm) (Fig. 16).

worn or damaged blade.
NOTICE: Keep the blade sharp for best mower performance. A dull blade does not cut grass
cleanly or mulch properly.
A dull blade can be sharpened, but a blade that is excessively worn, bent, cracked, or
otherwise damaged must be replaced. A worn or damaged blade can break, causing blade
pieces to be thrown from the mower.
If the blades are found to be bent, take the lawn mower to an authorized SKIL service center
for inspection.
