3.6 Connection to the flue
The unit is classified type B "open-flued natural draught" and is therefore designed to
draw in air directly from the installation room through the ventilation openings, which
must be made in compliance with the relevant technical standards. The smoke channel
and flue must be in compliance with technical standards, statutory legislation, and local
regulations.
The flue must be suitable for the type of unit installed and the temperature of the com-
bustion products, calculated and constructed in compliance with the technical standard,
air-tight, insulated, and without blockages or internal narrowing.
The verification must be carried out by means of the following procedure:
close all windows and doors communicating with the exterior;
seal any unused open chimneys and exhaust ducts in the room in which the unit is
installed and in any communicating rooms;
switch on the unit at the effective heating capacity;
switch on any other devices or appliances that could produce negative pressure
conditions in the room. The operator must take into account any existing mechanical
ventilation systems and make a note of the test configuration in the document to be
issued (e.g. mechanical ventilation running or mechanical ventilation stopped);
switch on the pressure measuring instrument, wait for it to stabilize at zero and then
insert the probe into the smoke channel test hole;
when the unit is operating in steady-state conditions measure the negative pressure
and make sure there are no significant changes in the reading value in a period of
at least 10 seconds;
the measured draught value must be no lower than -6 Pa and no higher than -30
Pa.

4. SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE
All adjustment, conversion, commissioning and maintenance operations described be-
low must only be carried out by Qualified Personnel (meeting the professional technical
requirements prescribed by current regulations) such as those of the Local After-Sales
Technical Service.
FERROLI declines any liability for damage and/or injury caused by unqualified and un-
authorised persons tampering with the unit.
4.1 Adjustments
TEST mode activation
Press the heating buttons (details 3 and 4 - fig. 1) together for 5 seconds to activate the
TEST mode. The boiler switches on irrespective of the system or DHW request.
The heating symbol (detail 24 - fig. 1) and DHW symbol (detail 12 - fig. 1) flash on the
display.
To deactivate the Test mode, repeat the activation sequence.
The TEST mode is automatically disabled in any case after 15 minutes.
Burner adjustment
The burner is factory-set as given in table 2. The burner can be set to a different output
by acting on the pump pressure, nozzle, head adjustment, and air adjustment as per the
following paragraphs. In any case, the new adjusted output must fall within the boiler's
nominal operating range. After making any adjustments, using a combustion analyser
check that the CO
Nozzle flow rate table for oil
table 2 gives the oil flow rates (in kg/h) according to the change in pump pressure and
nozzles.
N.B. - The values given below are only approximate, since nozzle flow rates can vary by
± 5%. Also, with burners having a preheater, the fuel flow rate decreases by about 10%.
