13. FUNCTIONING IN TRANSITION PERIODS
ATTENTION: For no reason must the fire be ignited before the system has been completely filled with water;
doing this would lead to serious damage of the entire structure.
The system must be kept constantly full of water even during the periods when the use of the thermoheating stove is
not requested. During the winter, inactivity must be faced with the addition of antifreeze.
During the transition period when the outdoor temperature are higher, in case of sudden temperature increasing it
could be that the flue had some problems and that the fumes are not totally aspirated. There may be a certain
difficulty in discharging the fumes (intense smell of gas).
In this case frequently shake the grid and increase the combustion air. Then, load a reduced quantity of fuels which
allows a quick burning (by developing flames) and therefore stabilise the flue draught. Check that all openings for
cleaning and connections to the chimney are hermetic.
13.1.
USE AS A NORMAL STOVE.
ATTENTION: For no reason must the fire be ignited before the system has been completely filled with water;
doing this would lead to serious damage of the entire structure.
Use as a normal stove is NOT envisioned!
In order to prevent water boiling in the boiler, when the thermoheating stove is in function, the circulation pump must
be in function in order to dispose of the heat given to the boiler water on the radiators.
The system must be kept constantly full of water even in period when use of the thermoheating stove is not
requested. During the winter, inactivity must be faced with the addition of antifreeze.
14. MAINTENANCE AND CARE
Have your chimney sweep check the correct installation of the thermoheating stove, the connection to the chimney
and also airing.
To clean the enamelled parts use soapy water or non abrasive or non chemically aggressive detergents.
IMPORTANT: only use spare parts that are expressly authorised and offered by La Nordica. If necessary connect
your authorised dealer. THE APPLIANCE CANNOT BE MODIFIED!
14.1.
CLEANING THE FLUE
The correct ignition procedure the use of suitable types and amounts of fuel, the correct positioning of the secondary
air regulator, the sufficient chimney effect of the chimney and the presence of combustion air are all indispensable for
the optimal functioning of the appliance. In-depth cleaning is recommended at least once a year or when necessary
(malfunctioning problems with little yield). This operation, performed exclusively when the stove is cold, should be
carried out by a chimney sweep that can perform an inspection at the same time.
The ash box and the flue pipe must be removed from the stove during cleaning.
The fumes collection chamber can be cleaned from the fireplace and, after having removed the flue pipe, also from
the drain stub pipe with the aid of a brush and a suction device.
Pay ATTENTION that after cleaning all disassembled parts are re-installed in a hermetic manner.
14.2.
CLEANING THE GLASS
Through a specific secondary air inlet, the formation of dirt on the glass door is effectively slowed down. However, it
can never be avoided with the use of solid fuels (in particular humid wood) and this must not be considered as a
defect of the appliance.
IMPORTANT: the panoramic glass must only be cleaned when the stove is cold in order to prevent its
explosion. Do not use cloths, abrasive or chemically aggressive products.
The correct lighting phase, the use of proper quantities and types of fuels, the correct position of the secondary air
regulator, enough draught of the chimney-flue and the presence of combustion air are the essential elements for the
optimal functioning of the appliance and for the cleaning of the glass.
BREAKAGE OF THE GLASS: as the windows are in glass ceramic they resist up to a thermal shock of 750° C ,
but do not undergo thermal shocks. They can only be broken by mechanical shocks (blows or violent closure
of the door etc). Therefore they are not replaced under warranty.
14.3.
CLEANING THE ASH BOX
All La Nordica thermoheating stoves have a fireplace grid and a box for the
collection of ashes (Pos. A Picture 11). We recommend that the box is emptied
periodically to prevent complete filling, in order not to heat the grid. Moreover,
we advise that 3-4 cm of ash is always left in the fireplace.
ATTENTION: the ashes removed from the fireplace must be placed in a
container made from non-inflammable material and that has a
sealed cover. The container must be placed on a non-
inflammable floor surface, away from inflammable materials
until the ashes have gone out completely and are cool.
