10. Additional functions
The multimeter comes with the following additional functions that you can use when taking measurements.
a) Automatic power-off
The multimeter powers off automatically after 15 minutes if no keys are pressed and the rotary dial is not moved. This
protects the batteries and prolongs the battery life.
A beep will sound 5 times approximately one minute before the power off. Press any key to keep the multimeter
powered on for a further 15 minutes.
If no keys are pressed, the multimeter will emit a long beep tone and power off.
If the multimeter switches off automatically, press any key to power it back on. Turning the rotary switch to the "OFF"
position also reactivates the meter.
The "
" symbol indicates that automatic power-off is enabled.
Disabling automatic power-off
When taking prolonged measurements, it is necessary to disable the automatic power-off feature. To disable this
feature, power the multimeter off.
Keep the "SELECT" key pressed and power the multimeter on using the rotary switch. When powered on, a beep
sounds 5 times and the automatic power off symbol is no longer displayed.
The multimeter will stay powered on until you power it off or the batteries are exhausted.
A repeated beep will sound every 15 minutes to remind that this function has been deactivated.
Automatic power-off is automatically re-enabled when you power the multimeter off.
b) HOLD function
This feature freezes the current reading on the display so that you can record it for future reference.
If you test live wires, ensure that this function is disabled before the measurement starts. Other-
wise, a false measuring result is simulated!
To turn on the HOLD function, press the "HOLD" key (9); a beep confirms this action and the symbol "H" is shown in
the display.
To turn off the HOLD function, press the "HOLD" key (9) again or change the measuring function.
