While using the appliance, place yourself into a stable
position and keep balance. Do not use the tool in slippery,
irregular or unstable surfaces, or in a lumpy terrain.
Keep all your body parts away from the drilling
accessory while using the appliance.
Always wear clothing and personal protective equipment.
Wearing a visor or goggles, dust mask, hearing protection,
anti-slip safety shoes, long-sleeved clothing, gloves,
helmet and shin guard properly reduces the risk of injury.
Clothing worn out during use of the equipment must be
adequate, tight and closed, for example, a work boiler suit.
Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep hair, clothing
and gloves away from moving parts.
Always wear security shoes with non-slip sole that fully
covers the foot while working. Never work barefoot or in
sandals, for example.
In case of nausea, headaches, sight problems (eg.
reduced vision), hearing problems, dizziness and
reduced ability to concentrate, stop working immediately.
These symptoms may be caused by high exhaust gas
concentration.
The combustion engine produces poisonous gases as soon
as it starts running. These gases contain toxic carbon
monoxide, a colourless, odourless gas, as well as other
harmful substances. The combustion engine may never be
turned on inside confined or poorly ventilated spaces.
When operating the appliance, plan pauses and avoid
operating the auger for long periods of time. Permanent
vibrations are harmful to health.
Never attempt to unclog the auger drill bit while the engine
is running. Shut of the engine and wait the drilling
accessories to stop completely before unclogging the drill
bit.
A massive load of vibrations may damage nervous
and circulatory systems, especially to whom have
circulatory problems. Inform your doctor if any symptoms
arise caused by vibration. Among these symptoms, that
occur specially on fingers, hand and wrists, are also
included loss of sensation, pain, muscle weakness, skin
discoloration or tingling sensation.
The control and safety devices installed in the earth auger
cannot be removed or inhibited.
When
performing
cleaning,
maintenance work, always wear gloves and place the
machine on a firm, flat floor.
Keep the spark plug away from the spark plug, as an
unintended ignition spark can cause burns or electric
shocks. Unintended contact of the spark plug with the
spark plug may result in an involuntary starting of the
combustion engine.
Allow the device to cool down especially before
carrying out maintenance works in the combustion
engine, exhaust manifold and muffler. Temperatures of
80°C or even higher can be reached.
Frequently check the equipment, especially before storage
(for example, before the winter period), regarding wear and
damages.
For safety reasons, replace worn out or damaged parts
immediately so the unit is always in perfect working
conditions.
Cleaning:
The auger must be carefully cleaned after each use.
Clean the engine by hand (avoid introducing water into the
air filter and exhaust). Avoid wetting control components
and other accessories that are difficult to dry out (water
stimulates the appearance of corrosion and rust).
Do not use aggressive cleaning products. These products
may damage plastics and metals, compromising the safe
operation of the earth auger.
In order to avoid fire hazards, the ventilation slots and
exhaust must remain completely clean and free of any
flammable debris.
Maintenance:
Only maintenance works described in this instruction
manual may be carried out, all other works must be
performed by an official dealer.
Use only VITO-approved tools or accessories. Not doing so
may result in damages to the device. In case of doubt, you
should contact an official dealer.
For safety reasons, the fuel conductive components (hoses,
tank, tank cap and couplings) should be checked regularly
for damage and leaks. If necessary, they should be
replaced by an official dealer.
Keep warning and information stickers always clean and
legible.
