LEAK TEST
Clean and inspect the hose/regulator assembly before each use of
the cooker. If there is evidence of wear, cuts or leaks, the hose/regulator
assembly must be replaced prior to the cooker being put into operation.
REPLACE ONLY WITH REGULATOR MODEL #101 OR GYK 1/8 (5 PSI).
* Leak test must be repeated each time a tank is exchanged or refilled.
* Gas leak testing must be performed outdoors in a well ventilated area.
* When performing the soapy water test, always keep the cooker away
from open flames, sparks, or lit cigare es.
* Never use an open flame to test gas leaks.
* Remove any pots or other cookware from the burner before
beginning the test.
Steps:
1. Turn regulator valve and the propane tank valve to the OFF position.
2. Prepare your soapy water solution by combining one part of dish
washing liquid with one part of water. Do not use household cleaning
agents. Damage to gas train components could result. Using a clean
paint brush, apply soapy water solution to the propane tank valve,
regulator and up the hose to the burner.
3. Turn propane tank valve ON (regulator control valve is in the OFF
position) and observe tank valve for bubbles. After 10 seconds, turn off
the tank valve and continue to watch for any bubbles. DO NOT LEAVE
THE VALVE IN THE ON POSITION FOR MORE THAN 12 SECONDS. If
bubbles appear at the valve a achment, tighten the valve, and repeat
the test from the beginning after waiting 5 minutes.
4. Always examine the valve connector and hose for any damage. If
damage is observed, do not a empt to fix the valve connector or patch
the hose. Replacing the valve connector and hose is the only safe
option.
5. When the propane tank has been tested, open the regulator control
valve one full turn and check for bubbles at regulator control valve,
along the entire length of hose and at the connection to the burner.
DO NOT LEAVE GAS ON FOR MORE THAN 12 SECONDS. If soapy
mixture starts bubbling, gas is leaking through the connection or
hose. Turn the regulator valve OFF and the propane tank valve OFF and
retighten the connection that is leaking gas. After test is completed,
and there are no leaks, wait a minimum of 5 minutes for gas fumes to
diminish before lighting cooker.
TO PREVENT FIRE OR EXPLOSION HAZARD WHEN TESTING
FOR A LEAK:
• NEVER perform a leak test on a cooker while in use or hot.
• DO NOT use matches, lighters or flame to check for leaks.
• DO NOT use cooker until all leaks are corrected.
• If you are unable to stop a leak, disconnect the propane supply.
• NO SMOKING. DO NOT use or permit sources of ignition in the area
while conducting a leak test.
