Work area safety
•
Observe your surroundings to ensure that nothing can
affect your control of the machine.
•
Do not use the machine in bad weather, such as dense
fog, heavy rain, strong wind, intense cold, etc. Working in
bad weather is tiring and can lead to dangerous
conditions, e.g. slippery surfaces.
•
Never start to work with the machine before the working
area is clear and you have a firm foothold.
•
Ensure that the working area is sufficiently illuminated to
create a safe working environment.
•
Make sure that no pipes or electrical wires are routed in
the work piece or in the working area.
Basic working techniques
Potentiometer function
•
The unit is fed up and down along the column by turning
the potentiometer in one direction or the other.
•
If the potentiometer is not in its zero position when the unit
is switched on, the feeding will not start until the knob has
passed the zero position.
•
Set the load by turning the potentiometer. It is adjustable
between 1-20 A for the 230V version and 1-30 A for the
110V version.
Protective mechanisms and self-regulation
When a deviation from normal operation takes place the LED
will start blinking very frequently to attract the operator's
attention. This can occur e.g. if the motor temperature is too
high, if overload occurs or when the drill motor has gone
through the work piece and the unit stops feeding.
•
If the power to the drill motor is too high, the unit goes into
regulation mode. In this mode the unit will stop feeding
down and might back up a little before it continues feeding
down.
•
The feed unit can read values from the Elgard™ motor
protection (Husqvarna's drill motors) When used together
with machines equipped with this motor protection, the
feed unit optimizes the work depending on the drill motor
used, without overloading it.
If Elgard™ trips the feed unit will read the value. This new
value will correspond to 100% on the potentiometer,
which means the operator can keep working without
overloading the motor. The new max. value remains until
the feed unit is switched off. The potentiometer then goes
back to normal mode.
•
If the power to the unit's feed motor is too high and the
motor is about to become overloaded, the chosen value
on the potentiometer will be lowered in steps of 1 A until a
limit value is reached. The unit will then switch itself off.
This can occur e.g. if the stand is poorly adjusted or during
drilling with a drill that is bigger than what is
recommended for the unit.
•
When the drill has gone through the concrete, the power
goes down. When the power has been below a certain
value for a certain time period, the unit will automatically
stop feeding down and switch the drill motor off.
OPERATING
Starting and stopping
Before starting
•
Check that the machine is assembled correctly and do not
show any signs of damage.
•
Check that the potentiometer is in the zero position.
Starting
•
Push the power button. The LED lights up, indicating that
the feed unit is running.
•
Start the drill motor. See instructions in the operator' s
manual for the drill motor used.
•
Turn the potentiometer to the desired position to start the
feeding.
•
If the drill motor is equipped with an overload indicator,
this can be used as a visual aid to set the right feeding
speed.
•
To optimize use, you should let the machine work on its
own once the right feeding speed is obtained.
Stopping
•
Press the power switch button to stop the feed unit.
Transport and storage
•
Secure the equipment during transportation in order to
avoid transport damage and accidents.
•
Store the equipment in a lockable area so that it is out of
reach of children and unauthorized persons.
