The lightning flash with arrowhead sym-
bol, within an equilateral triangle, is
intended to alert the user to the presence
of uninsulated dangerous voltage within
the product's enclosure that may be of
sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of
electric shock.
The exclamation point within an equilat-
eral triangle is intended to alert the user to
the presence of important operating and
maintenance (servicing) instructions in the
literature accompanying the product

can lead to damage caused by electro-
static discharge.
The ground symbol within a circle identi-
fies the product to be connected to an
external conductor. Connect this product
to earth ground before you make any
other connections to the equipment.
Operating safety
The Mitel SMB Controller communication server
is operated on 115/230 VAC mains power using
an external power supply unit with the following
ratings:
Input: 100 - 240 VAC / 1.5A
Output: 19 VDC / 3.42 A.

The communication server and all their compo-
nents (e.g. telephones) will not operate when
mains power fails. Interruptions in the power
supply will cause the entire system to restart. A
UPS system has to be connected up-circuit to
ensure an uninterruptible power source. For
more information please refer to your commu-
nication server's system manual.
When the communication server is started for
the first time, all the configuration data is reset.
You are advised to backup your configuration
data on a regular basis as well as before and
after any changes.
Installation and operating instructions
Before you begin with the installation of the
Mitel SMB Controller communication server:
• Check that the delivery is complete and
undamaged. Notify your supplier immedi-
ately of any defects; do not install or put into
operation any components that may be
defective.
• Check that you have all the relevant user doc-
uments at your disposal.
• Configure this product with only the assem-
blies specified and in the locations stated in
the user documentation.
• During the installation follow the installation
instructions for your Mitel SMB Controller in
the sequence that is given and observe to the
safety warnings they contain.
CAUTION!
Failure to follow all instructions may
result in improper equipment operation
and/or risk of electrical shock.
• Install all wiring according to local, state, and
federal electrical code requirements.
• Do not connect telecommunications cabling
to the system, service the system, or operate
the system with the grounding conductor dis-
connected.
• Ensure the AC receptacle is installed near the
equipment and easily accessible.
• Use only Mitel approved power adapters.
Any servicing, expansion or repair work is to be
carried out only by trained technical personnel
with the appropriate qualifications.
