7. Use a 3 mm Allen wrench to remove the 2 screws holding the ball nut.
8. Slide the carriage to the bottom of travel. The ball screw should tilt outward at the top. You should be able to
remove it easily without applying force to any component. Do not turn the ball nut off either end of the ball screw.
9. To replace the top bearing flange, use a 2 mm Allen wrench to remove the 4 screws from the flange and lift off the
flange.
10. Clean and lubricate the new ball screw (see below) during installation.
11. Reverse the order of the steps for reassembly.
Clean and lubricate the ball screw
The ball screw should be cleaned and lubricated whenever repairs are performed on the lifter, or every 6 months. Clean
the ball screw by carefully wiping away all grease, dust, and dirt with a clean, dry cloth. If possible, move the nut over
the full length of travel several times to ensure that as much of the old grease as possible comes out of the nut. Do not
use any detergents or other cleaning fluids, such as trichlorethylene, alcohol, or acetone.
Note:
Do not remove the ball screw or ball screw nut, unless you need to replace the ball screw assembly.
After the ball screw is clean, apply a thin layer of fresh grease over the entire surface of the screw. After lubricating it,
operate the assembly several times through its stroke, at low speeds and low loads, to ensure that all contact surfaces
of the nut, ball, and screw are covered with a film of grease.
