Chapter 1 : Vehicle Charger Overview
The charger has IMPRES 2 charger with battery communication feature. The charger logs in charging
events and data in the IMPRES 2 battery. The charger does not have automated reconditioning as
the IMPRES 2 desktop chargers do. The vehicle charger does not initialize a new IMPRES 2 battery.
To maintain the fuel gauge capability on the appropriate radio for an initial calibration and subsequent
recommended recalibration, the unit indicates when the IMPRES 2 battery needs to be taken to an
IMPRES 2 desktop charger for reconditioning or calibration.
The charger can charge either a battery that is attached to a radio or just the battery alone. This allows
a spare battery to be maintained in a fully charged condition.
To ensure optimized charging performance, turn off the radio while charging unless the radio is
transmitting data wirelessly on Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
NOTE: Excessive use of a radio while it is in the charger results in discharging the battery.
The Vehicle Repeater System (VRS) toggle switch and LED feature provides a control signal at the
back of the power connector that can be used to enable different applications.
