The Matrix Switch always outputs the audio and video data synchronously, and without any delay.
However, the processing time in two HDMI sinks may be different. Especially video processing
takes more time than just audio. Therefore, the audio may not play in sync with the video if it is
processed separately. Most TV sound systems have a function to compensate this common issue
(look for lip-sync or audio delay in the menu).
Audio Formats
The supported audio formats are negotiated between the devices. You can only influence this to a
limited extent via the EDID control. On some HDMI sources, you can set the audio output manually.
Please note the following:
• HD audio formats such as Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD (also Dolby Atmos /
DTS-X) cannot be transmitted via SPDIF. So if you do not have sound, select another sound
format (stereo or Dolby Digital).
• If you want to use HD sound formats, connect your AV receiver to HDMI out A and select EDID
copy mode.
• Via HDMI ARC, 5.1 or 7.1 sound can only be transmitted via Dolby Digital Plus. Not via Dolby
TrueHD or DTS HD Master Audio.
• There are many soundbars that have only one HDMI ARC connector. This is not a real HDMI
input! You cannot connect such a soundbar directly to an HDMI output. You can only connect
it to the HDMI INPUT of the TV marked „HDMI ARC". If you want to connect such a soundbar
please use SPDIF connection.
Scaler 4K > 1080p
If a source provides Ultra-HD signals, the scaler can be switched on for display on a second Full-
HD display. The original signal of 3840 x 2160 pixels then becomes 1920 x 1080 pixels. So exactly
one quarter. The respective frame rate and colour information is retained. A Full-HD display thus
receives 1080p at 60 Hz if the source's output signal is 2160p at 60 Hz. This ensures the best
possible picture quality on the Full HD display. Other resolutions from the PC world such as 1440p
or other display resolutions such as 720p are not scaled. If a Full-HD display or projector does
not show video, please check if it supports 1080p. Some devices are limited to 1080i, or cannot
handle 24 Hz or 60 Hz frame rate.
3D video format support
3D is supported and can be output if ...
a) all connected HDMI sinks support 3D
b) or the HDMI sink with 3D support is connected to HDMI out A and EDID switch is set to COPY
