EDID switch
Via EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) a TV, AV receiver or projector connected via HDMI
signals its capabilities (including best supported video resolution and sound format). The HDMI
source then automatically outputs the best supported signal. When connecting the HDMI source to
the HDMI sink, this ensures that audio and video data can be processed. However, if the output is
simultaneously on 2 different HDMI sinks, the HDMI source must find a compromise. For example,
stereo sound and 5.1 sound cannot be delivered at the same time. By the way, the HDMI sink is the
term used to describe the HDMI terminal device. An HDMI sink can be a television, video projector
or AV receiver.
With the switch on the back you can change the EDID control:
• AUTO: The capabilities of HDMI sinks on HDMI OUT A and OUT B are compared. The HDMI
sources provide an audio-video signal that both HDMI sinks can process.
• COPY: Only the capabilities of the HDMI sink at HDMI OUT A are evaluated and it is ensured
that this device gets the best possible signal. The HDMI sink at OUT B may have no picture
or no sound if it has lower capabilities. Connect your best device to HDMI OUT A and use this
setting if you do not want to watch both displays at the same time.
