PHOTO 81: Make up the railings using the strips (126 & 127) and then glue the columns (128) between the strips as shown. Use fast-setting
glue.
PHOTO 82. Place one of the railings on the deck hatch, as shown, and in front of it a stair assembly.
PHOTOS 83 & 84: Make up the assembly as shown in the photo using the parts (129 & 130). At the foot of the Samson post make four 1 mm
diameter holes, at the heights indicated. Assemble two stairs and place them in the openings shown on the deck. Fit the necessary eyebolts
and rings onto the hatch.
PHOTO 85: Glue the strips (132 & 133) sideways onto the base (131) followed by the strips (134 & 135). Paint the chimneys (136) black and
cream and glue them into place as shown in the photo.
PHOTOS 86 & 87: Glue the bell post (137) to the bell (138) using fast-setting glue and then into place on the lots in the deck, touching it up if
necessary. Make up two assemblies using the parts (129 & 130) so that they can be inserted in the bow area. Lined up sideways with the bell
post fit, already decorated and painted cream colour, the brackets (139) and onto them the railing handrails (140), and centre over the other
railing handrail (141).
Put together two more stairs for access to the lower deck. Finally fit into place the assembly that you mounted in step 85.
PHOTO 88: Glue the columns (142) onto the railing handrails (143) and then glue the whole assembly onto the deck as shown. Glue the
finishes (114) making sure that they coincide on the columns.
PHOTO 89: Line up the brackets (139) as shown in the photo and then glue the railing handrails (144) onto them, and then onto these the parts
(145). Trim and give shape to the parts (146 & 147) and glue them onto the deck without piercing it.
PHOTOS 90 & 91: Glue the stern transom (148-a and 148-b). Curve the parts so that they adapt to the aft end of the hull and
Paint them blue and brown before fitting the windows (156). You can cut out each window individually in order to better centre them in their
positions. Use fast-setting glue. The transom must be aligned on the centre of the ship's stern, as shown in the photo.
PHOTO 92: Fit the parts (149, 150 & 151) onto the transom and against the bulwarks. Line the bulkheads using the strips (152) and then make
up the roof using the strips (153).
PHOTO 93: Glue the frames (154) onto the bulkhead and inside it the soffit (155). Fit a pin, as a kind of doorknob. Now glue the bases (157)
onto the bottom part of the transom and, onto these, glue the part (158) in order to create a small step. At a height of approximately 20 mm
locate the base (159). The top base (160) is at a height of 50 mm with respect to the base (157). These parts can be better adjusted if you use
the windows and the columns that are incorporated, as shown in step 113. You can delay the work on this step until you have reached step
113, in order to achieve a better adjustment.
PHOTO 94: In order to make up the gun port lids, onto each base (161) glue one of the parts (162). The pins are held in place by bending them
at the end of the hinges. Glue the hinges in each gun port and attach them to the hull, having previously made holes in which to insert the pins.
The pins will have to be bent so that they can be correctly fitted. Paint the interior of the ports red. Use fast-setting glue.
PHOTO 95: Make the necessary holes in the base for the guns and then glue the gun shanks (164) into place along the line of the first battery.
For the second battery only glue the gun shanks (165) that have a base to hold them. Use fast-setting glue.
PHOTO 96: Put together the cabin assembly using the parts (166, 167 & 168). Line the outside using the lining strips (169 & 170), applying
them horizontally.
PHOTO 97: Glue into place the front roof and baseboard finishes (171), the sides of the roof (172) and the side baseboards (173 & 174). Fit
onto the front the frames (175) and the windows (176) and onto the sides the doors (177) and the windows (178). Paint the window frames
brown. Cut and adjust the strips (179) and fit them into the gaps for the doorways. Fit some pins (A) as knobs for the doors.
PHOTO 98: Place the cabin on the deck and adjust the bulwark in order to fit in the embedded windows (180).
PHOTO 99: Paint the rudder blade (181) white and then fit the parts (181, 182 & 183). Use cutting pliers to adjust the size of the hinges. Make
up the hinge pins using 1.5 mm brass wire. Make a hole alongside the sternpost, large enough for the rudder tiller to be inserted. Join the rudder
blade to the hull using the hinges and hinge pins.
PHOTO 100: Cut short lengths of 1 x 15 mm diameter brass wire and glue them into place as axles for the barrels (185). Now make 1 mm
diameter holes in the tops if you want to simulate the entry of the fuses. Now glue the barrels onto the carriages (184). Glue the wheels and
nd
axles onto the bottom. Trim off the excess from the axles. Do not fit wheels to the guns (189), as these are for the 2
battery, underneath the
midships deck (see photo 105). Paint the gun carriages red.
PHOTO 101: Place lengths of the strip (191) between the rings of the capstan (190) to simulate the capstan whelps. There must be six lines of
capstan whelps around the capstan. Now file down the sides in a pyramid form. Make six 1.5 mm diameter holes in the top ring, coinciding
between the capstan whelps, and paint the rings red. Put together two assemblies.
