Safety instructions
Read these operating instructions through carefully before using the equipment Incorrect use could
endanger life and limb, and may invalidate any warranty claims against Optrel

Applications

Unlimited clear view of your workspace with or without air filtered clean air distribution (depending on the
model) with adjustable air distribution makes the clearmaxx the unique face and respiratory protection
system with the highest safety level
Ideal for: grinding applications, metal industry, food industry, sand blasting, wood applications, painting,
landfills and agriculture
Precautions & protective restrictions
Before using the product, always check that the equipment is complete and that no damage occurred
during transport Never use faulty or damaged equipment
The user must be familiar with the correct use of his personal protective equipment
PAPR version only:
The user of this head top need also to follow the instructions of the PAPR system and the filters
Only use the clear visor connected with a switched on PAPR system
The helmet only should be used in connection with a certified blower which corresponds to the
requirements of the national standards
The filtered air overpressure inside the protective head top is the primary protective factor preventing
the ambient air contaminants from penetrating
A switched off PAPR system does not protect the user's espiratory organs A switched off fan could
lead to an increase of the carbon dioxide concentration and a dangerous oxigen decrease inside
the headtop
Make sure that the sealing line of the head top fits tightly to the face only then a perfect protection
level could be guaranteed
The protection factor may be reduced if the user has hair or beard extending to the face sealing part
A strong wind from the side or from behind may affect the protection provided by the helmet In the
case of extremely high environment particle pollution, very low pressure may be caused in the helmet
by breathing in This could reduce the protection In This case, do not remove the helmet or switch off
the blower until you have left the danger zone
The clearmaxx clear visor may not be used:
in a flammable or explosive atmosphere,
if the inhaled air is lacking in oxygen (Europe: <17 %, Australia: <19%) or the concentration of toxins is
so high that a protection class in excess of TH2P for Europe and P2 for Australia),
in surroundings where there is immediate danger to life and limb
To protect the rest of your body, appropriate protective clothing must also be worn In some circumstances,
particles and substances released by the working processes can trigger allergic skin reactions in
correspondingly predisposed persons
Materials of the helmet that come into contact with skin may cause allergic reactions to susceptible persons
The protective clear visor must only be used for grinding and for application where particles, fume or
dust will be produced that can harm the respiratory tracs Never use the head top for other applications
optrel assumes no liability when the clear visor is used for purposes other than intended or with disregard
for the operating instructions

Please see the instructions of the national sales organisation of optrel for warranty provisions For further
information in this respect, please contact your optrel dealer Warranty is only granted for material and
manufacturing defects In the case of damage caused by improper use, unauthorised intervention or
through usage not intended by the manufacturer, the warranty or liability are no longer valid Likewise,
liability and the warranty are no longer valid if spare parts other than those sold by Optrel are used
Expected Lifetime
The clear visor has no expiration date The product can be useed as long as no visible or invisible damage
or functional problems occure
How to use (Quick Start Guide) p. 2-3
Both Models (Standard and PAPR):
1. Head band. Adjust the upper adjusting band (p 2-3) to the size of your head Push in the ratchet knob
(p 2-3) and turn until the head band fits securely but without pressure
2. Distance from eyes. By releasing the locking knobs (p 2-3), the distance between the protection
lens and the eyes can be adjusted Adjust both sides equally and do not tilt Then tighten the locking
knobs again
3. Helmet angle. The helmet angle can be adjusted using the rotary knob (p2-3)
4. Mounting the visor. Fix the lower part of visor into the provided openingThen Slide the upper part
of visor under the top selvage of the visor Slide the side edges of the visor into the lower grooves
(p2-3)
PAPR Version only:
I-III Air hose holder. Click the air hose holder on the headband corresponding to the pictures (p 2-3)
step I connect the air hose to the helmet (step II and III) and click the air hose into the air hose holder
for fixation
IV Air distribution. The air stream distribution can be settled from 100% in the breathing area to 80%
in the breathing area and 20% to the forehead area to generate a cooling effect (p 2-3)
V Faceseal. Put the adjusted helmet on your head and pull the faceseal strip under your chin Take
care that the faceseal has a thight fit at your skin and there is no leckage (p2-3)
Cleaning and Maintenance
non PAPR and PAPR version:
Check your Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) regularely in accordance with the operating instructions
Using a clear cloth moistened with soapy water to clean the clear visor inside and outside let the helmet dry
in clean enivironment Exchange sweatbands and comfort bands for hygienic reasons on regular basis
PAPR version:
Using a clean cloth moistened with soapy water, clean the blower, the air hose and the safety helmet Leave
the unit to dry at room temperature Do not use strong detergents, solvents, alcohol or cleaning agents
containing abrasives The face seal is washable (hand wash, do not spin)
Check the face seal and the air nozzle for holes, cracks or other damage and check that they are correctly
positioned on the helmet (see operating instructions) Do not use the system until all worn or damaged
parts have been replaced
Clean the outside and inside of the clearmaxx with a damp cloth and soapy water The faceseal (PAPR
version) should either be detached and washed by hand or carefully wiped remaining on the helmet Use
soapy wather or a mild disinfectant Exchange the faceseal from time to time
Storage
The clear visor must be stored at room temperature and at low humidity Storing the helmet in the original
packaging or an dedicated backpack or PAPR bag will increase the liefetime
Removing / installing the visor (p. 4-5)
Removing the visor:
Pull at the visor edge in the lower part
At the same time push from the lower inner side of the visor out
Mounting the visor:
Fix the lower part of visor into the provided opening
Slide the upper part of visor under the top selvage of the visor
Slide the side edges of the visor into the lower grooves
Replacing the faceseal (only PAPR version)
Removing the washable part of the faceseal by pulling carefully the velcro fastener appart
The removable part of the faceseal is whashable (hand wash, do not spin)
Clean the fixed part of the faceseal with a clean cloth moistened with soapy water or a light disinfecting
agent
Let it dry in the air and mounting in reverse order
Never use a damaged faceseal.
Exchange the face seal every 6 month.
