Safety Warnings for Band Saws
General Safety Rules
Hold power tool by insulated gripping surfaces, when
performing an operation where the cutting accessory
may contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Cutting ac-
cessories contacting a "live" wire may make exposed metal
parts of the power tool "live" and could give the operator an
electric shock.
Use clamps or another practical way to secure and sup-
port the workpiece to a stable platform. Holding the
work by your hand or against the body leaves it unstable
and may lead to loss of control.
Keep your hands away from the sawing area. Do not
reach below the workpiece. Danger of injury in case of
contact with the band-saw blade.
Apply the machine to the workpiece only when
switched on. Otherwise there is danger of kickback when
the cutting tool jams in the workpiece.
After finishing the working procedure, switch the ma-
chine off, wait until the saw blade comes to a complete
stop and then remove the band-saw blade from the cut.
In this manner, kickback is prevented and the machine can
be placed down securely.
Use only undamaged band-saw blades that are in per-
fect condition. Bent or dull band-saw blades can break or
lead to kickback.
Keep lubricants or oil away from the band-saw blade.
Completely wipe off excess oil before cutting. Other-
wise, the band-saw blade can slip.
Do not apply strong pressure to the band-saw blade
during operation. Excessive pressure can cause the
band-saw blade to slip or break. Danger of injury.
After switching off, do not stop the band-saw blade by
applying lateral pressure to it. The band-saw blade can
become damaged, break or lead to kickback.
Do not touch the band-saw blade directly after the
working process until after it has cooled down. The
band-saw blade becomes very hot while working.
When working with the machine, always hold it firmly
with both hands and provide for a secure stance. The
power tool is guided more secure with both hands.
Products sold in GB only: Your product is fitted with a
BS 1363/A approved electric plug with internal fuse
(ASTA approved to BS 1362).
If the plug is not suitable for your socket outlets, it should
be cut off and an appropriate plug fitted in its place by an
authorised customer service agent. The replacement plug
should have the same fuse rating as the original plug.
The severed plug must be disposed of to avoid a possible
shock hazard and should never be inserted into a mains
socket elsewhere.
Products sold in AUS and NZ only: Use a residual current
device (RCD) with a rated residual current of 30 mA or
less.

Safety Warnings for Hand-held Band Saws
Always wait until the machine has come to a complete
stop before placing it down. The tool insert can jam and
lead to loss of control over the power tool.
Secure the workpiece. A workpiece clamped with clamp-
ing devices or in a vice is held more secure than by hand.
Safety Warnings for Band Saws in Stationary Operation
Never leave the machine before it has come to a com-
plete stop. Cutting tools that are still running can cause in-
juries.
General Working Stand Safety Warnings
Read all safety warnings and all instruc-
WARNING
tions provided with the working stand
and the power tool to be mounted. Failure to follow the
warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire
and/or serious injury.
Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
The term "power tool" in the warnings refers to your mains-
operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless)
power tool.
Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the
battery pack from the power tool before making any
adjustments or changing accessories. Accidental start-
ing of the power tool is a cause of some accidents.
Properly assemble the working stand before mounting
the tool. Proper assembly is important to prevent risk of
collapse.
Securely fasten the power tool to the working stand be-
fore use. Power tool shifting on the working stand can
cause loss of control
Place the working stand on a solid, flat and level sur-
face. When the working stand can shift or rock, the power
tool or workpiece cannot be steadily and safely controlled.
Do not overload the working stand or use as ladder or
scaffolding. Overloading or standing on the working stand
causes the stand to be "top-heavy" and likely to tip over.
Product Description and Specifica-
tions
Read all safety warnings and all instruc-
tions. Failure to follow the warnings and in-
structions may result in electric shock, fire
and/or serious injury.
Intended Use
The power tool is intended for making separating cuts in metal
while resting firmly on the workpiece. It is suitable for straight
cuts with mitre angles of up to 45°. The saw blade recommen-
dations are to be observed.
The power tool can also be operated as a stationary tool using
the saw table.
The light of this power tool is intended to illuminate the power
tool's direct area of working operation and is not suitable for
household room illumination.
