MATERIALS
A 1 Towbar Main Frame
A1 1 Centre Tube with European facing to 94/20/EC A50-1
C 1 Side Arm – Right Hand and Left Hand
D 4 M10 x 50mm x 1.5mm Bolts and Lock Washers
D1 2 Spreader Plates – Right Hand and Left Hand
E 4 M12 x 30mm x 1.75mm Bolts, 2 Nuts and Lock Washers
F 2 M12 x 30mm x 1.75mm Bolts, Nuts, Lock Washers and Large Flat Washers (30mm O.D.)
G 2 M12 x 80mm x 1.75 Bolts and Nyloc Nuts
H 8 M10 x 25mm x 1.5mm Bolts, Nuts, Lock Washers and Large Flat washers (40mm O.D.)
CB 2 M16 x 50mm Coupling Bolts, Nuts and Lock Washers
BC 12 M10 Bolt Caps
Z 1 ZEP35 Electrical plate (not shown)
FITTING
1. Remove bumper (5 plastic clips on top edge of bumper, 1 tip bolt each side, 2 plastic clips on lower edge for
the Honda, and for the Rover there are an additional 2 clips on the lower left hand side). Cut out an aperture in
lower edge, as shown on respective diagrams.
2. Remove and discard pressings covering open ends of vehicle frame.
3. Insert Side Arms (C) into chassis. Loosely attach Towbar Main Frame (A) to the rear panel using Bolts (F) with
large flat washers forward of panel and to Side Arms (C) with Bolts (E). Mark up through the existing holes in
the under side of the chassis and Side Arms (C) for rear fixing (D) (see diagram). Drill down from inside the
boot for rear fixings (D), remove mastic compound from floor and loosely attach Spreader Plates (D1) to Side
Arms (C) using rear Bolts (D).
4. Using the Spreader Plates (D1) as a guide drill for forward holes (D) and attach Spreader Plates (D1) to Side
Arms (C) with forward Bolts (D). Using the Spreader Plates (D1) as a guide drill for forward holes (H) and
attach Spreader Plates (D1) to the vehicle floor using Bolts (H) with Large Flat Washers on the under side of
the floor. Tighten all bolts.
5. Refit bumper and attach Centre Tube (A1) using Bolts (G).
Note: This towbar must be used with either a Witter Towball (part number Z1) or Class A50-1 or A50-X towball dimensionally
Conforming to A50-1 with a 'D' and 'S' value greater than or equal to that of the towbar.
Please refer to the vehicle specification for the trailer weight and nose limits, which must be observed.
Recommended torque settings: M8 - 27Nm, M10 - 53 Nm, M12 - 95 Nm , M14 - 150 Nm, M16 - 214 Nm
