4.2 Preparing for use

MSW-WL450:
4.2.1 Mounting the stands:
Place the machine on its side and screw the stands into the
machine base.
4.2.2 Installing the tailstock centre:
Gently loosen the lock lever, gently pull out the spindle
bushing by turning the tailstock wheel. Push the spindle
into the bushing. To remove the spindle, pull it firmly or
gently knock it out with a rubber mallet so as not to cause
any damage to the element located at the spindle.

4.2.3 Installing the faceplate:
Screw-on the faceplate in the direction of the thread. To
remove the faceplate, lock its rotation and unscrew the
faceplate.
4.2.4 Speed adjustment:
Loosen the belt tensioning bolt and the motor bolt.
NOTE! Do not remove the bolts completely!

Engine bolt
Remove both speed control covers. Use the belt tension
handle to make the largest possible belt clearance. By
turning the wheel, put the belt on the appropriate rollers.
Remember to always put the belt on the smaller roller and
then on the larger one. Tighten the motor bolt, adjust belt
tension so that at the midpoint of the belt span, each V-belt
can be pressed in between the V-belt pulleys by 1-1.5 cm.
1-1,5 cm
Tighten the belt tensioning bolt and install both covers.
Speed for particular belt positions:
3200
2200
1600
1100
750
NOTE! The belt must always be installed
to run parallel, do not install the belt on
different wheels so that it is skewed!

Recommended speed settings depending on the size of
the workpiece:
Workpiece diameter
Recommended speed
[mm]
[rpm]
0 – 50
2200 – 3200
50 – 75
1600 – 2200
75 – 100
1100 – 1600
100 – 130
750 – 1100
130 –
750
NOTE! The above values are guide values and may vary
depending on the type of wood being processed and the
operator's skills!
NOTE! Polishing and finishing can be performed at higher
speeds than turning.
4.2.5 Stock preparation for mounting to the tailstock
centre:
Find the centre of the block:
Drill a hole of the depth of 5mm at the intersection of the
lines, using a 1/8"diameter drill. To make the workpiece
safer for processing, draw a circle and cut off the corners
of the block, if they protrude beyond the circle more than
a minimum of 50 mm:
4.2.6 Mounting the workpiece against the faceplate:
For processing larger workpieces, they must be mounted
against the faceplate. To do that, place the faceplate in the
workpiece centre and screw it on using the round head
screws. Install the faceplate with the attached workpiece
into the machine so that the spindle drives at least 6mm
into the workpiece:
Release the tailstock lock handle, push
the tailstock to the material, release the
6 mm
tailstock knob lock handle, advance the
tailstock to the hole in the wood using
the knob, lock the tailstock knob.
CAUTION! All installation / removal works on the machine,
as well as speed changes must always be performed with
the power supply disconnected!
MSW-WL1000:
4.2.7 Assembling the bed:
Join the two sides of the bed, install
the bolts, washers and nuts, then fasten
using an appropriate key:
Rev. 22.05.2018
4.2.8 Installing the tool rest assembly:
Insert the bolt and the washer through the rail in the bed,
and then fasten the bolt so that, after releasing the lock
handle, the tool rest assembly can slide to the left/right,
as needed. For working with a long stock, the tool rest
assembly should be moved beyond bed joining points. To
remove the tool rest assembly, loosen the handle, loosen
the nut and then move the tool rest assembly to the other
side.
4.2.9 Installing /Removing the spindle:
Screw-in the spindle in the direction of
the thread. To remove the spindle, lock
the axle with a wrench and unscrew the
spindle:
4.2.10 Installing the faceplate:
Unscrew the spindle (if fitted). Screw-
on the faceplate in the direction of the
thread. To remove the faceplate, lock
the axle with a wrench and unscrew the
faceplate:
4.2.11 Speed adjustment:
Open the speed control cover, loosen the motor bolts.
NOTE! Do not remove the motor bolts completely!
Adjust belt position, tighten motor bolts.
Check belt tension. Adjust belt tension so
that at the midpoint of the belt span, each
V-belt can be pressed in between the V-belt
pulleys by 1-1.5 cm:
Speed for each particular belt position:
A. 4080RPM
B. 2760RPM
C. 1920RPM
D. 1320RPM
MOTOR
NOTE! The belt must always be installed to run parallel, do
not install the belt on different wheels so that it is skewed!
Close and screw-on speed adjustment cover.
4.2.12 Installing the tailstock:
Place the tailstock on the turning bed, apply the bottom
plate from the bottom, insert the bolt through the holes
and then screw it with the nut or the locking lever. To move
the tailstock to a different location, loosen the locking
screw / lever, move the tailstock to the proper position and
lock the whole. Place the blade of the tailstock in the stand.
Remove the wheel, screw the blade of the tailstock into the
stand, put the wheel (flat side in the direction of the screw),
fix the centering bolt.
4.2.13 Installing the tool rest assembly:
Place the tool rest assembly on the bed, position the
plate from below, insert the bolt through the holes and
then fasten with a lock nut or handle. To move the tool
rest assembly to another position, loosen the lock screw/
lever, move the tool rest assembly to the desired location
and block the whole. To adjust the height of the tool rest,
loosen the lock, set the required height and tighten the
