CLEANING YOUR XBOX 360 WIRELESS MICROPHONE
Clean only with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Using cleaning solutions or attempting to clean
connectors may damage your microphone.
You can remove the windscreen and windscreen foam to hand-wash separately in a mild soap
solution. Do not use any abrasive cleaners or cleaning supplies.
Only the windscreen and windscreen foam may be hand-washed. Do not immerse any other part
of the microphone in water. Make sure that the windscreen and windscreen foam are completely
dry before reassembling your microphone.
Always remove batteries before cleaning.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If you encounter problems, try the possible solutions provided below.
The Wireless Microphone Does Not Work
The Xbox 360 Wireless Microphone automatically connects and communicates with your
console when you press the microphone's power button. If your console is turned on and you do
not get any response from the microphone:
• Make sure that the microphone's batteries are fresh, AA (LR6) batteries and are installed
correctly.
• If you can't hear anything at all, make sure your sound system is turned on and turned up to a
moderate level.
• If nothing else works, manually turn off your console, remove the batteries from the
microphone, and check the button to be sure it is not stuck. Then reinsert the batteries into
the microphone and repeat the steps given in "Connect Your Xbox 360 Wireless Microphone."
The Wireless Microphone Is Experiencing Feedback
Feedback occurs when the microphone picks up too much audio from your sound system. Here
are some things you can try:
• Turn down the volume of your sound system.
• Move the microphone farther away from the sound system speakers.
• Hold the microphone so that it points away from the speakers.
Sound Quality Is Poor or Distorted
• Hold the microphone about 1–8 centimeters (0.5–3 inches) from your mouth.
• Make sure that you have fresh batteries in the wireless microphone.
• If you are using NiMH rechargeable batteries, make sure they are fully charged.
• Make sure that you're using the microphone within the 10-meter range of the console.
• Make sure there as few obstructions as possible between the microphone and the console—
including people.
• Remove nearby sources of RF interference, such as cordless phones, microwave ovens, CD
players, and computers.
