Maintenance activities
WARNING
Disconnect the electric motor from its power supply before starting any maintenance.
8.4.1
General
•
Check the operation of the pump.
•
Check the pump for damage and leaks. If the pump does not work properly and/or leaks, have it
repaired by an Holmatro Certified Technician.
8.4.2
Hydraulic oil tank
Check the hydraulic oil level
•
Check the level of the hydraulic oil. The dipstick is fitted to filler cap (Fig. 3/6) on the pump flange.
•
Add hydraulic oil to the mark, if necessary.
Replace the hydraulic oil
WARNING
Used oil must be collected and disposed of in an environmentally safe way.
Caution
Use hydraulic oil with the correct specifications and make sure no dirt or dust enters the
hydraulic tank to prevent damage to the pump and tools.
•
Remove the hydraulic oil filler cap.
•
Collect all of the old hydraulic oil in a suitable container by turning the pump upside down.
•
Fill the hydraulic tank through the filler opening with 2 l hydraulic oil.
•
Check the level of the hydraulic oil.
•
Vent the pump after replacing the hydraulic oil. Refer to chapter 8.4.3.
8.4.3
Vent the pump
Air can enter the hydraulic system when a new hose, coupler or jack is fitted or after the hydraulic oil is
replaced. This is shown by a slow or jerky extension of the jack.
Remove the air as follows:
•
Place the jack upside down and lower than the pump.
•
Let the plunger extend and retract fully a few times without load.
•
Place the pump in a vertical position with its filler cap facing upwards.
•
Remove the cap and add hydraulic oil up to the rim.
•
Close the filler cap.
•
Check that the jack is now extended rapidly and without jerking.
•
Repeat this procedure, if necessary.
•
If the oil supply is still not sufficient:
-
Apply some preload to the rubber bladder containing the oil by means of pressing the bladder
with a blunt object through the hole in the tank guard.
-
During this process, depress alternately the "ON" and "OFF" buttons to ensure that the pump
operates.
8.4.4
Hydraulic couplers
•
Check the couplers for damage. Have a Holmatro Certified Technician replace damaged couplers.
