With a piece of conventional wheat toast or thick slices, burning and the develop-
ment of smoke may result if the toasting setting is too high. In this case, abort the
toasting process immediately by pressing the Stopp (cancel) button.
1. Insert a slice of bread into each of the toasting slots. Do not use slices which are too
thick. The bread must not become wedged.
2. Use the rotary knob to set the desired toasting setting between level 1 (light toasting; very
light degree of browning) and stage 6 (strong toasting; very strong degree of browning).
Please note: If you use the device over a prolonged period, the slices which
are put into the device later on will be darker than the fi rst slices when the
same toasting setting is used.
3. Press down the lowering lever until it engages audibly. (The lowering lever only
clicks into place if the device is connected to a power socket.) The bread is lowered
and the device switched on. During toasting the Stopp (cancel) button lights up.
4. If necessary, select the Auftauen (defrost) or Aufwärmen (reheat) functions (see
the "Toasting Frozen Bread" and "Warming up Bread" section).
5. After the end of the toasting process, the bread and the lowering lever are automat-
ically raised and the device switches itself off. The Stopp (cancel) button goes off.
6. Remove the bread carefully from the toasting slot. As you do this, do not touch
the hot metal surfaces in the area of the toasting slots! There is a danger of
burns!
With small bread slices, the lowering lever can also be used to lift out the toast.
Push the lever all the way up to facilitate removing the bread slices.
Cancelling the Toasting Process
As soon as the toasting process has started, the Stopp (cancel) button lights up. Press
this button to cancel the toasting process prematurely. The bread is raised and the Stopp
(cancel) button goes off.
Toasting Frozen Bread
Set the desired degree of toasting. Place the frozen bread in the toasting slots and
press down the lowering lever. Then press the Auftauen (defrost) button. If the defrost
function is enabled, the Auftauen (defrost) button lights up and the toasting process is
extended.
Warming Up Bread
If you want to warm up bread that has already cooled down, insert the bread, press
down the lowering lever and then immediately press the Aufwärmen (reheat) button
after the lowering lever has clicked into place. The Aufwärmen (reheat) button lights up
and the toasting process is shortened.
Warming Up or Toasting Bread Rolls
If you want to warm up or toast bread rolls, place the bread roll toasting attachment
on top of the toasting slots. Make sure that it is placed on securely. Use the toaster as
usual.
