It is necessary to either trim or remove lower air dam (Figure 2a) & trim reinforcement (Figure 2b) (2021 and newer vehicles) to install hitch, See picture above. CONSULT VEHICLE OWNER PRIOR TO
INSTALLATION.
1. Trim or remove lower air dam
a) If trimming lower air dam use a cutting tool such as a knife or similar and trim as shown in Figure 2a. It's recommended using a 3/8" drill bit in the corners to provide a radius in the corners for
appearance.
b) If customer prefers to remove the lower air dam there are several fasteners along lower air dam that will be need to be removed. Specific details are not provided to remove as the number of
fasteners and types of fasteners may change with model year.
2. Trim Reinforcement
c) 2021 and newer vehicles have a reinforcement bracket that will need to be trimmed on both the driver and passenger side to allow the brackets of the hitch to fit. Trim this reinforcement using
a die grinder or similar cutting tool in the areas shown in figure 2b.
3. Feed the coiled end of the pull wire through the bolt rearward attachment hole in the side of the frame and out the access hole. Attach carriage bolt and spacer (item 1 & 5) to the pull wire. Pull the pull
wire with fasteners into location through the hole. Leave pull wires attached. Repeat the same process on the both frame rails.
4. Tape spacer (item 6) to rearward attachment location. See Figure 5. Then push all fasteners back into the frame rail leaving the pull wire attached and sticking out. See Figure 4
5. Slide the hitch under the vehicle lower air dam. Raise into position to confirm if additional flat washer(s) are needed to use as spacer (due to vehicle variants). If needed tape flat washers to forward
attachment as needed, both sides.
