For Your Safety
Working safely with this ma-
chine is possible only when the
operating and safety information
is read completely and the in-
structions contained therein are
strictly followed. In addition, the
general safety rules in the safety
rules section must be observed.
Wear protective glasses and ear protection.
If you have long hair, wear a protective hairnet.
Work only with close-fitting clothes.
If the cable is damaged or cut through while
working, do not touch the cable and pull the
plug immediately. Never use the machine if the
cable is damaged.
Connect machines that are used in the open
via a residual current device (RCD) with an ac-
tuating current of 30 mA maximum. Do not op-
erate the machine in rain or moisture.
Always direct the cable to the rear away from
the machine.
GSB 1300 RE: Operate the machine only with
the auxiliary handle 10.
When working with the machine, always hold it
firmly with both hands and make sure you are
in a secure standing position.
Hold electric tools by their insulated han-
dles whenever they could possibly touch a
hidden wire or their own cords.
Touching a "live" wire can transfer the voltage
to the exposed metal parts of the tool and give
the operator an electric shock.
Use appropriate detectors to determine if
utility lines are hidden in the work area or
call the local utility company for assistance.
Contact with electric lines can lead to fire and
electric shock. Damaging a gas line can lead to
explosion. Penetrating a water line causes prop-
erty damage or may cause an electric shock.
A blocking of the drill will lead to a jerking reac-
tion of the tool. In this case, turn off the ma-
chine immediately.
Secure the workpiece. Clamping devices or a
vise will hold the workpiece in place better than
the hand.
Be careful when screwing in long screws, as
they can slide off.
Place the machine on the screw/nut only when
switched off.
Never allow children to use the machine.
Bosch can only guarantee a flawless function-
ing of the machine if the original accessories
intended for it are used.

Auxiliary Handle/Depth Stop
(GSB 1300 RE – see figure
The auxiliary handle can be mounted on the right
or left side of the spindle neck with the thumb-
screw 9.
The drilling depth can be set with the depth
stop 11.
For this purpose, press the button 8 and pull out
the depth stop parallel and to the same length as
the drill. Then subtract the desired drilling depth
from the value read from the scale (arrow) and
set the drilling depth X accordingly.
Inserting the Tool
Open the drill chuck 1 by turning until the tool can
be inserted. Insert the tool.
Using the chuck key 12, tighten all three drillings
uniformly.
Screwdriver Tools (Accessories)
When using screwdriver bits, a bit holder should
always be used. Use only the screwdriver bits
that fit the screw head.
For driving screws, position the selector switch 3
to the symbol "Drilling and Driving".
Initial Operation
Always use the correct voltage: The voltage of
the power source must agree with the values on
the nameplate of the machine.
Switching On and Off
To start the unit, press the On/Off switch 6.
Lock the pressed On/Off switch 6 by pressing
the lock-on button 4.
To switch the unit off, release the On/Off
switch 6 or press and then release it.
Speed Selection (GSB 1300 RE)
With the thumbwheel 5, the required speed can
be selected even if the machine is running.
English - 3
Operate the machine only with the auxiliary
handle 10.
The machine runs with variable
speed between 0 and maximum
depending on the pressure applied
to the On/Off switch 6. Light pres-
sure results in a low rotational
speed, thus allowing smooth, con-
trolled starts. Do not load the ma-
chine so heavily that it comes to a
standstill.
