12.3 Centering the HBO bulb (B-383FL)
• Wait around 5 minutes before proceeding
with this operation to allow the bulb to warm
up properly.
1. Turn on the mercury bulb by operating the power
supply switch ①. (Fig. 42)
2. Turn the nosepiece into an empty position
(without objectives) and remove the protective
cap, or remove an objective from the nosepiece.
3. Place a piece of white paper on the stage and
insert the fluorescent cube "B" into the optical
path.
4. Acting on the focus screw of the collector lens ②
and on the centering screws ③ try to obtain the
light spot of the bulb's arc. (Fig. 43-44)
Using the focus screw of the collector lens ②,

put the image of the arc projected onto the paper.
The light spot must be brighter and sharper as
possible. (Fig. 45)
