Easy-fit
Thank you for purchasing an Invacare®sling.
The following user guide must be read and adhered to, or the warranty may be void.
Please check your sling on delivery – if the sling is not in perfect condition, please contact your
supplier.
The Invacare®Easy-fit sling provides increased support for the heavily dependent client.
The divided leg, allows easier application and also facilitates a good hip position when coming
to a sitting position.
The Easy-fit sling is easily applied in both sitting and lying position.
Sling application – Sitting in chair or wheelchair
Lean the client forward ensuring that they are well supported to reduce risk of falling and to
promote feelings of security.
Slide the sling down behind the back of the client in a central position with the aperture apex
aligned with the base of the spine.
Sit the client back against the sling. Picture 1.
Pass the leg support towards the front of the chair to each side of the thigh and then pass each
leg support under each thigh. Picture 2.
Sling application – Lying in bed or on floor
If the client is able to sit up from the bed or floor, this will ease the application. Lean the client
forward ensuring that they are well supported to reduce risk of falling and to promote a feeling
of security.
Slide the sling down behind the back of the client in a central position with the aperture apex
aligned with the base of the spine.
Sit the client back against the sling. Picture 3.
Alternatively, if the client does not have sufficient trunk control, roll the sling to mid-way and
roll the client to one side to position the rolled up sling under the lifted side. Ensure the centre
of the sling (green mark) is placed centrally along the spine. Roll the client to the other side,
unroll the sling and roll the client back into position on the sling. Picture 4.
Bend the knees one at a time to apply the sling under the legs.
Application of the legs straps
Crossed legs straps:
For maximum security, cross the legs straps or use the modesty strap. This will reduce the risk
of forward pitching and also maintain a better alignment of the hips and lower limbs. Picture 5.
Looping the leg sections together:
If the client is an amputee or feels this is more comfortable each individual leg strap can be
placed under both legs. Ensure that the client is not prone to spasm and there has been a risk
assessment completed to address the possibility of forward pitching. Picture 6.
Uncrossed leg straps:
Apply each leg support under each leg, but do not cross the straps. This can be recommended
when the client has abdominal sensitivity or requires intimate hygiene. Picture 7.
