5 Aligning D.A.R.T
on Speaker Stands
The HK AUDIO
®
DuoTilt™ lets you align D.A.R.T
horizontally to prevent or reduce troublesome
ceiling reflections.
The front opening of the HK AUDIO
you a 7.5° angle of tilt, and the rear opening gives
you a 15° angle of tilt.
If you choose to set D.A.R.T on a fully extended cabinet
tripod or mounting pole, insert the pole into the
opening that provides an angle of 15°.
This alignment option is preferable when you want
to address an audience where less listeners
are standing directly in front of the speakers.
If you want to address an audience where more
listeners are farther away from the loudspeakers,
opt for the 7.5° angle.

6 Tips and Tricks

1 Do not expose electronic circuitry to moisture!
When you set the system up outdoors, be sure to
protect it against rain. Keep soft drinks, beer or any
other liquids well away from the cabinets to protect
their electronic components from short circuits,
®
DuoTilt™ gives
which could fry them.
2 D.A.R.T delivers optimum sound, so you should
provide it with optimum input signals! Noise such
as hum is generally caused by defective cables, the
wrong type of cords, or unbalanced signals routed
into the mixing console. Check all signal and
mains cables.
3 Prevent distortion! Not only is it unpleasant to the
ears of your audience, it can also endanger your
equipment.
Make sure that all components which are connec-
ted (both directly and indirectly) to D.A.R.T have
sufficient power ratings, and that they don't distort
because they're running within their respective li-
mits. Provide an undistorted signal to the system
that doesn't have to be cleaned up by backing off
the GAIN knob.
4 Avoid ground loops! In spite of a balanced signal
circuit, redundant ground circuits in a single audio
system may generate undesirable humming.
For example, you may encounter a ground loop
when the mixer is grounded via a mains cord
which isn't connected to the same mains circuit
as D.A.R.T. To prevent this problem, always be sure
to connect D.A.R.T and the mixing console to the
same electrical circuit (same phase!).
If your setup hums despite this precaution, the
Ground Lift switch can be a great help.
Caution! Never tape over the AC plug's ground
terminal – this endangers lives!
