5. Apply grease to the stamped face of the key
retaining locking cam. With shackle open, use
small pliers and insert key retaining locking cam
into lock body. (Figure 5)
Note: Insert with slots down and flat side of key
retaining locking cam step facing drain hole.

6. Use small pliers to install key stop. The letter-
ing should be facing up towards you. (Figure 6)
Note: The key stop must sit flat on top of key
retaining locking cam inside lock body.

7. Assemble cylinder and cylinder housing. Make
sure screw hole of cylinder housing is on the
bottom. (Figure 7)

8. Insert cylinder and cylinder housing. (Figure 8)

Padlocks: Conventional Key-in-Knob – Key Retaining
9. Rotate key clockwise until cylinder and
cylinder housing drop into place. (Figure 9)
Holding cylinder and cylinder housing in place,
turn lock over.

10. Move shackle to one side. Insert cylinder
housing screw in shackle hole and tighten with a
#2 Phillips Screwdriver. (Figure 10)

11. Slide bumper onto bottom of lock body.
(Figure 11) Lock is now assembled.

Check Function: While holding shackle closed,
turn key counter-clockwise to lock.
Turn key 45 degrees clockwise to open.
Note: If lock is assembled correctly the key
cannot be removed unless shackle is closed.
NOTE ON CYLINDER PINNING
Conventional Key-In-Knob and SFIC service
manuals are available from Schlage for
additional information on cylinder pinning,
key cutting, and key control procedures.
Cylinders can be rekeyed using existing Schlage
cylinder components and/or pin kits.
When pinning padlock cylinders, install driver in
position shown below.
