CARE & MAINTENANCE
In order to extend the life of your Kryptonite by
Schlage KS-Series Padlock or KC-Series Locking
Cable you should complete the
following steps:
Padlock:
• Inspect the lock for excessive
accumulation of dirt and residue in the
operating mechanism.
• Clean the lock by dipping it in a solution
of small parts cleaner.
• Lubricate the keyway by placing a small
amount of flaked graphite on the key and
inserting it into the keyway.
Caution: Using too much flaked graphite will
attract moisture and gum up the cylinder.
• Apply a small amount of lithium based
lightweight grease to the shackle
broaching areas and ball bearing nest.
Cable:
• Inspect the lock for excessive
accumulation of dirt and residue in the
operating mechanism.
• Lubricate the keyway by placing a small
amount of flaked graphite on the key and
inserting it into the keyway.
Caution: Using too much flaked graphite will
attract moisture and gum up the cylinder.
Generally, locks installed indoors should be serv-
iced every six months, while locks installed out-
doors should be serviced every three months.
Locks that are used in heavy-duty environments
may need to be serviced more frequently.

KEY-IN-KNOB DISASSEMBLY
Key-In-Knob Padlock:
1. Insert key and rotate clockwise to
open shackle.
2. Rotate shackle to expose shackle hole.
3. Using a #2 Phillips Screwdriver, remove the
cylinder housing screw that is at the bottom of
the exposed shackle hole.
4. Remove the cylinder and cylinder housing.
5. Using needle nose pliers, remove the key
stop.
6. While holding the lock body and the shackle
closed (but not all the way closed) remove the
locking cam with pliers.
7. Remove shackle mounting screw, shackle and
shackle spring.
8. Remove the two ball bearings.
Key-In-Knob Cable:
1. Remove the dust cover screws with a
2mm Allen Wrench.
2. Remove the dust cover.
3. Unlock cable and remove the driver
mounting screw from the locking hole using
a 3mm Allen Wrench.
4. Remove the washer from the locking hole.
5. Remove the cylinder and cylinder housing
from the lock head.
SFIC DISASSEMBLY
SFIC Padlock:
1. Insert key and rotate clockwise to
open shackle.
2. Rotate shackle to expose shackle hole.
3. Using a #2 Phillips Screwdriver, remove the
steel retainer plate screw.
4. Insert control key and remove cylinder, steel
retainer plate and throw member.
5. While holding the lock body and shackle
closed (but not all the way closed) remove the
locking cam with needle nose pliers.
6. Remove shackle mounting screw, shackle and
shackle spring.
7. Remove the two ball bearings.
SFIC Cable:
1. Remove the dust cover screws with a
2mm Allen Wrench.
2. Remove the dust cover.
3. Unlock cable and remove the throw member
mounting screw from the locking hole using a
3mm Allen Wrench.
4. Remove washer from locking hole.
5. Remove the cylinder using the control key.
6. Remove throw member.
