Pumped version
Dig a big enough hole to put the filter system into the ground.
While measuring/digging take into consideration:
- an over-flow safe distance from the pond shore which conforms to the guidelines. Devices, using a nominal voltage
of 230 V, are not allowed to be installed in swimming ponds. It is very important to hold a minimum distance between
the devices and the pond (in Germany 2 m, in Switzerland 2,5 m, etc.).
- that he inflow nozzle is under water level. While the pump works, it always has to be covered at least 100 mm with
water or you will have the danger that it will run dry. Thereby the pump will get damaged!
- that the top edge of the FIAP Pump Active is above pond water level and the maximum water level in the container
is at least 800 mm above the floor of the pit. This is very important for the optimum filter effect and especially to avoid
that the pond runs empty.
Important! The system has to be shut down if you are over or under these data.
Take also into consideration:
- that the ground plate, on which the FIAP Pump Active will stand, is strong enough
- that you will have enough room to move for cleaning and servicing
Secure walls of the pit against falling in dirt (masonry, concrete) and consider that you also need a drain for rainwater.
Set the FIAP Pump Active system and the FIAP Module Active system in the direction the water flows, on a stabile
and even underground (at least on a plate or better on concrete).
Because of the big volume it is necessary to take the weight of the filter modules, according to the technical data, in
consideration. Make sure that the modules are accessible for cleaning and servicing. While setting up the filter
system watch out that the inflow of the pond (or the origin of the watercourse or waterfall) is not setting higher than
the outflow of the filter.
Mounting of the dirt drain
- Gravity version: Mount the connection set on the outflow of the FIAP Pump Active. To avoid pressure loss use a
short as possible hose connection with the biggest possible inside diameter, lay them straight and good protected, cut
the stepped hose nozzle off in the right place for the respective hose. Heat the hose with hot water, pull it on the
stepped hose nozzle, turn it on and secure it with a hose clamp.
- Pump version: Connect the tube DN 100 on the water outlet, as straight as possible (max. 45 -curve) and lay it
good protected into the ground.
Mounting of the dirt drain
The dirty water contains for example fish excrements and has to be disposed by the legal regulations. The dirt drain
of the filter system has to be connected to a pressure tube DN 50, which has to lay in the ground with an decline of 30
mm in flowing direction.
Operating and control of the proper function
Important! During filter operation the stop valve of the dirt drain has to be closed all the time. If not the pond
can run empty!
First follow the security notes! Before operating make sure that all hoses and tubing are connected correctly. Open
the push valve at the inflow of the system, turn on the pump, check if the system is totally sealed.
Notice: A new installed system reaches its entire cleaning effect after a few weeks. First by a temperature of + 10°
Can extensive activity of bacteria will take place.
Cleaning and servicing
Follow security notes first! Clean the device only if necessary. Use no chemical cleaners to reach an optimized
development of the filter biology. Chemical cleaners kill the bacteria in the filter room. This will cause a reduced litre
output. Shut off the pump and secure it against unintentionally turn on, close the push valve at the inflow of the
system and take the lit of the filter module off.
Common cleaning process for all FIAP modules
After the filter elements are cleaned, open the stop valve of the dirt drain tide and wait until the container is empty.
Connect a hose for clean water and fill it up with clean water. After the inside of the container is flushed and the water

drained off, close the stop valve tide and fill the container up to the drain full with clean water. After the cleaning
process open the push valve on the inflow of the system. Turn on the pump, check the system for leaks and close the
lit of the filter module.
Storage
By water temperatures under 0° C or latest when it will freeze, you have to turn of the system.
Therefore empty the system out, clean it carefully and check it for damage. Cover the filer container so that no
rainwater can fall in. Empty all the hoses, tubing and connections out and leave the stop valve of the module open.
Disposal
The device has to be disposed by the national law regulations. For more information ask your specialized dealer.
