FIAP Modul Active
FIAP Modul Active Mini, FIAP Modul Active and FIAP Modul Active Jumbo BioSafe®
The FIAP module Active BioSafe ® provides a biological purification of water. The pores of the high performance
foam cartridge form an inner surface, which is a huge area of settlement for microorganisms. This module turbulence
and zones occur where the water flows at different speeds. In zones of high flow rates (low density filter), the
colonization of microorganisms is favored, which ensure implementation of ammonium to nitrite to nitrate
(nitrification). For this, you need oxygen, the FIAP Air Active use and can be connected to the integrated aeration
membranes.
Common features
All modules have the same connection height of 455 mm (DN 150 in- and out-flow). So you are flexible to install them
into all models. All modules have a stop valve to control the drain of dirty water during the cleaning process.
The maximum amount of water running through the FIAP Modul Active series is 20.000 litres per hour (pump version)
and 15.00 litres per hour (gravity version). The maximum run through amount of the FIAP Modul Active Jumbo is
30.000 litres per hour (pump version) and 25.000 litres (gravity version). The bigger the pond and/or the more
polluted it is, we advise to use additional modules to double the amount of water running through.
Ways of operating
The FIAP Modul Active series can be configured and set up in different ways.
The following describes two possibilities:
The 'gravity version' and the 'pump version'. For all other ways of operating and special demands ask a specialist!

FIAP Modul Active
The filter system is completely built into the ground. Over the drain on the floor reaches dirty pond water the first filter
module, which is caused by gravity. The pump stands in the pump chamber which is placed at the end of the system.
It transports the clean water back into the pond.
- effectively remove of floating particles because the dirt reaches the Spalt Sieve or Vortex without being pumped
- low energy consumption because of nearly no difference in height and only low loss of friction
- easy to install and"hide"
Pump version
The filter system can be placed above pond water level. Through a pump (or a levelled FIAP Pump Active) dirty pond
water is transported into the filter system. The already cleaned water runs back into the pond over a tube with a
decline.
Advantages of the pumped system:
- easy to install in already existing ponds
- low expenditure with installation
- it is easy to extend the system
Setting up the modules
Important! For swimming ponds place the filter pump always outside the pond under the pond water level.
Otherwise it can happen that the filter pump runs dry and will get damaged!
Gravity version
Dig out a big enough hole to put the filter pump into the ground. While measuring/digging watch out for following:
- an over-flow safe distance from the pond shore which conforms to the guidelines. Devices, using a nominal voltage
of 230 V, are not allowed to be installed in swimming ponds. It is very important to hold a minimum distance between
the devices and the pond (in Germany 2 m, in Switzerland 2,5 m, etc.).
- that the inflow nozzles are under pond water level. The minimum water level has to be 730 mm above the pit floor.
Or the pond water will not run off and not be cleaned in the filter system. There will be danger of running dry and
damaging the filter pump.
Important! The maximum allowed tolerance of the pond water level is 100 mm.
Take also into consideration:
- that the ground plate, on which the FIAP Pump Active will stand, is strong enough
- that you have enough room for extending the system
- that you have enough room to move for cleaning and servicing
Secure walls of the pit against falling in dirt (masonry, concrete) and consider that you also need a drain for rainwater.
Set the FIAP Pump Active system in the direction the water flows, on a stable and even underground (at least on a
plate or better on concrete).
Because of the big volume it is necessary to take the weight of the filter modules, according to the technical data, in
consideration in choosing the type of floor support.
