Solution
Is the ATX power supply unit switched on?
Is the power cord inserted correctly on both sides?
Does the mains socket work properly?
Are all connections of the components on the inside of the
computer correct (eg ATX plug, 4-pin ATX-12V plug)? When
the hard disk cable is inserted the wrong way around, the
computer may not start because of a short circuit, the ATX
power supply unit will not work!
Some mainboard do not start, if the CPU fan is turning too
slowly or not at all (eg CPU fan with temperature sensor or with
low speed to reduce the noise).
When the ATX power supply unit is switched on (via the mains
switch on the back of the ATX power supply unit) only the
standby current on the mainboard is applied.
Only briefly pressing the power button on the front side of your
computer housing switches on the ATX power supply unit (as
long as the power button is connected with the corresponding
terminal of your mainboard).
This is why you should check the correct connection of the
power button with the mainboard.
