Solution
Is the ATX power supply unit switched on?
Is the power cord inserted correctly on both sides?
Does the mains socket work properly?
Are all connections of the components inside computer correct (e.g. ATX
plug, 4-pin ATX-12V plug)? When the hard disk cable is inserted the
wrong way around, the computer may not start because of a short circuit;
the ATX power supply unit will not work!
Some mainboards do not start, if the CPU fan is turning too slowly or not
at all (e.g. CPU fan with temperature sensor or with low speed to reduce
the noise).
When the ATX power supply unit is switched on (via the mains switch on
the back of the ATX power supply unit) only the standby current on the
mainboard is applied.
By briefly pressing the power button on the front side of your computer
housing you switch on the ATX power supply unit (as long as the power
button is connected with the corresponding terminal of your mainboard).
Therefore check the correct connection of the power button to the
mainboard.
