Observe the legal regulations and recommendations
by the manufacturer.
Switch machine on and approach the workpiece to
be sawn.
Put base plate 2 on workpiece surface and saw
through it with constant contact pressure or feed.
If the saw blade seizes, switch machine off immedi-
ately. Spread gap somewhat with suitable tool and
pull out saw blade.
When the cut is completed, switch off the machine
and then pull the saw blade out of the cut only after
it has come to a standstill (danger of kick-back).
Plunge cutting
Plunge cutting may only be used on soft
materials, such as wood, aerated concrete,
gypsum plaster boards, etc.!
However, this requires a certain practise and is only
possible with short saw blades.
Set machine on workpiece and switch it on. Ensure
that the bottom edge of the base plate 2 rests on the
workpiece surface. Slowly saw into the workpiece at
an angle (fig. C).
When the required cutting depth is reached, move
machine to a vertical position and continue to saw
along the cutting line (fig. D).
Switch machine off and lift off workpiece.
Flush sawing
Elastic bi-metal saw blades allow to saw off project-
ing building elements (e. g. water pipes, iron bars,
etc.) directly at the wall.
Apply saw blade directly to the wall and bend slightly
with some lateral pressure on machine so that base
plate 2 rests on the wall (fig. E).
Switch machine on and saw off workpiece with con-
stant lateral pressure.
Practical Advice
For cutting tight-radius curves, it is best to use a nar-
row saw blade. You can find the appropriate types in
the table at the end of the instructions.
Because of the strong heating that occurs when saw-
ing metal, apply a cooling or lubricating agent along
the cutting line.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Before any work on the machine itself, pull the
mains plug.
For safe and proper working, always keep the ma-
chine and the ventilation slots clean.
12
For extreme conditions when working with
metal, conducting dust can collect on the
interior of the machine. The protective in-
sulation of the machine can be degraded.
In such cases, it is recommended that the
ventilation slots be blown out frequently
and
that
a
breaker (RC) be connected in series with
the machine.
To ensure long term flawless operation of the ma-
chine, the SDS saw blade holder should be cleaned
regularly. This can be done by lightly tapping the ma-
chine with the foot plate on a flat surface without a
saw blade inserted (fig. F). If necessary, the SDS
saw blade holder should be cleaned by blowing out
with compressed air.
If the machine should fail despite the rigorous manu-
facturing and testing procedures, repair should be
carried out by an authorised customer services cen-
tre for Bosch power tools.
In all correspondence and spare parts orders, al-
ways include the 10-digit order number from the
nameplate of the machine.
WARNING! Important instructions for connect-
ing a new 3-pin plug to the 2 wire cable.
The wires in the cable are coloured according to the
following code:
strain relief
live = brown
neutral = blue
Do not connect the blue or brown wire to the earth
terminal of the plug.
Important: If for any reason the plug is cut off of the
cable of this machine, it must be disposed of safely
and not left unattended.
