Important!

These operating instructions contain much
useful information on the use and main-
tenance of your new unit. Please read this
information carefully before using the appli-
ance and keep this booklet for further refe-
rence. If properly maintained, this appliance
will provide you much enjoyment for years
to come.

Purpose

The
malt mill
(BHG 407.000)
BIELMEIER
is a device for the manual crushing of
dry barley and wheat grains, respective-
ly, with the purpose of preparing malts
for mashing at a homebrewer scale
(non-commercial).

Exclusion of Liability

This present construction was designed
to the best of the constructor's knowled-
ge and belief. The distributor cannot be
held liable for imperfections of the de-
sign and is hereby excluded. For the in-
correct usage, i.e. differing from section
"purpose" (p. 14), especially the non-
stop operation and the installation of a
motor, only the operator of the construc-
tion can be held liable.

Warning

During the operation of the malt mill

sources of danger are existent.
The system is only to be used by adults.

Do not remove safeguards.
ƒ
Only operate the appliance with the
ƒ
funnel attached.
Any manual intervention during opera-
ƒ
tion is dangerous and can lead to ma-
jor injuries.
Crushing of material not stated in sec-
ƒ
tion "purpose" (p. 14), especially the
insertion of foreign matter must be ex-
cluded by the operator.
The device is not suitable for the long-
ƒ
term storage of goods and has to be
filled directly before use.
Any leftover has to be removed instan-
ƒ
taneously.

Operation

Mount the base plate tightly onto a
ƒ
wooden board, table etc. using adequa-
te screws. Make sure that the mounting
will remain tight during usage. The out-
let at the bottom hast to remain open.
Tightly screw the malt mill

onto the base plate (p. 8).
To collect the crushed malt, it is recom-
ƒ
mended to place a sufficiently large
container below the malt mill
407.000).
Mount the funnel (p. 11).
ƒ
Before first use, grind and dispose ap-
ƒ
prox. 100 grams of grain in order to
ensure that no montage residues will
remain in the housing.
Maximum rotation speed ≈ 400/min.

Actuation screw and hand crank

To fit the hand crank, the actuation screw
needs to be dismounted (if applicable).
To prevent the drums from turning left,
ƒ
block them with the wooden wedge or
similar from below. Do not use a screw
driver or the like!
Using a wrench size 13, loosen the lock
ƒ
nut of the actuation screw by a left
turn.
Block the drums with the wooden
ƒ
wedge by inserting it through the grain
opening (p. 10).
Replace the actuation screw by the
ƒ
hand crank by screwing the crank into
the lock nut and actuation roller (right
turn).
Fix the hand crank by tightly securing it
ƒ
with the lock nut.

Storage

It is recommended to store the appliance
in a cool and dry environment, to prevent
corrosion.

Adjustment

The malt mill
(BHG 407.000)
adjusted. The gap size is set to approx.
BHG
1.3 mm. For finely crushed malts 2 conse-
cutive milling rounds are recommended.

Maintenance and cleaning

The malt mill
(BHG 407.000)
ce free. In case of any irregularity please
contact the distributor.
Do not use liquids for cleaning.
ping, brushing or blow-out with air should
be used. Always clean the rollers of the
machine after use. It is recommended to
regularly check that all screws are tight.
Furthermore, look out for easy movement
of both drums during vacant state of the
malt mill.

Malfunction

The malt mill
(BHG 407.000)
easily e.g. in case one of the rollers only
turns with difficulties. For this, unscrew the
4 housing screws with an Allan wrench size
SW5. Make sure that everything sits in the
correct positions when remounting the
mill. When in doubt contact your distribu-
tor.
