1 Pre heat the appliance as described on page 2.
2 Check that there is water in the tank.
3 Select the desired filter and fit into the filter holder. Make sure that the tab on
the filter fits into the slot on the filter holder.
Use the smaller filter for making one cup of coffee (or when using coffee pods)

and the larger filter for 2 cups.
4 Add the coffee using the measuring spoon provided, one level spoon per cup,
level the surface then lightly press with the back of the measuring spoon. Wipe
off any coffee around the rim.

When buying ground coffee make sure it is suitable for espresso machines.

Never press the coffee too firmly as the coffee will come out slowly and the
crema will be of a dark colour. However, if it is pressed too lightly, the coffee will
come out too fast and the crema will be a light colour.
5 Lift the filter holder into the liquid coffee/boiler outlet. Turn it to the right to lock
into position

6 Wait until the OK light glows continuously then press the button for the desired
number of cups (

). The machine will dispense the correct amount of
coffee then automatically switch off. Coffee delivery can be interrupted or
paused manually by pressing either the pre-selected one (

button again within 5 seconds of the end of brewing.

The temperature of the just brewed coffee can be increased by pressing the
button for at least 5 seconds. If the
be hot, if it is glowing it will be very hot.
Once the temperature has been changed it will be memorised automatically for
future operations. To revert back, repeat the above procedure.
7 Remove the filter holder by turning to the left.

There will be water on the filter when you remove it: this is normal
8 To remove the used coffee from the filter holder, flip the lever on the handle so
that the end locates over the filter

Never remove the filter holder while coffee is brewing or the coffee (

Note:
The espresso machine has been programmed to dispense a pre selected
quantity of liquid when the one (
can be adjusted for individual tastes. To do this:-
1 Press the one cup (
) button for 5 seconds, coffee will start to come out and
the button will flash. When the desired amount of coffee has been dispensed,
press the button again to stop the flow and this quantity will be memorised
automatically. Repeat to change the 2 cup setting.
2 If you wish to revert back to the pre set quantity, press the one and two cup
button simultaneously for 5 seconds or until the on/off button flahes (this will
change both the one cup (
) and two cup (
to make coffee using filter pods
Important
If the filter for 1 cup is used after ground coffee has been used, it is necessary
to clear any ground coffee from around the liquid coffee/boiler outlet. This is
necessary to avoid water leakages from the filter holder and to ensure optimum
performance. Take care as the area may be hot.
1 Pre heat the machine as described on page 2. This will ensure that the coffee is
delivered at a hotter temperature. Fit the small filter into the filter holder before
fitting to the machine, making sure that the tab on the filter fits into the slot on
the filter holder.
2 Place the coffee pod into the filter making sure that the pod is facing the
correct way
.
3 Press the pod towards the lower part of the filter, making sure that the paper
flaps adhere to the inner part of the filter.
4 The pod needs to be well centred and placed in the filter.
5 Fit the filter holder into the liquid coffee/boiler outlet and turn to the right until it
locks into position

Prepare the espresso as previously described
1 Make sure there is water in the tank.

3 Part fill a jug with milk – the milk may increase up to three times in volume so
select a suitably sized jug.

Cold semi skimmed milk gives the best results.
4 Position the jug under the steam/hot water nozzle
5 Place the nozzle into the milk and turn the steam/hot water knob in an anti
clockwise direction. The milk will begin to increase in volume and appear frothy.
To obtain a creamier froth, rotate the jug with slow movements from the bottom
upwards. Once the desired temperature is reached (60ºC), stop the steam by
turning the steam/hot water knob clockwise.

Never allow the milk to boil as this will spoil the flavour of the coffee.

If the steam function is not used within 5 minutes of setting, the appliance will

Important – Never operate the steam/hot water nozzle for longer than 1
minute at one time.

After steam delivery, some steam will be given off from the drip tray. This is due
to a special device which eliminates steam left in the boiler and channels it into
the drip tray.
hint - to prepare more than one cappuccino, first make all the espresso then
at the end prepare the frothed milk for all the cappuccinos.

Never remove the filter holder from its housing immediately after using the

When you have made cappuccino, for safety reasons you cannot make coffee
as long as the OK light is flashing. To reduce the waiting time you can cool the
machine more quickly as follows:-
1 With the steam/hot water knob in the off position (turned clockwise), make sure
the steam button (
OK light will flash indicating the unit is too hot to make espresso.
2 Place a cup under the steam/hot water nozzle, and open the steam/hot water
knob by turning in an anti-clockwise direction. Hot water will come out of the
steam/hot water nozzle and the OK light will stop flashing and glow indicating
that the unit has cooled down sufficiently to make espresso.
3 Turn the steam/hot water knob clockwise to close.
4 The unit is ready to make espresso.
