safety
Always treat the filtered water as a
"food stuff" and follow the hygiene
guidelines below:
Always wash your hands before
handling the unwrapped filter
cartridges, especially if you have
been preparing raw food such as
meat or poultry.
Consume filtered water immediately
or store in a refrigerator. Discard any
unused filtered water after 24 hours.
The filter is for treating mains tap water
only. Do not filter hot or boiling water.
Wash the jug, lid and hopper
regularly, at least every time you
change the cartridge.
For best results the filter cartridge
should be kept in contact with the
water. If the filter has not been used
for 48 hours, flush the cartridge
through by filling the hopper twice
and discarding the water.
During prolonged period of non use
(eg holiday), any unwrapped or
partly-used cartridges should be
stored in the refrigerator - ideally still
inserted in the water hopper. The
cartridge once removed from the
wrapper must under all circumstances
be discarded after 30 days even if it
has not been used.
Filtered water should be boiled for
babies and young children - just as
you would boil tap water and many
types of bottled water before giving
them to your baby.
Always check the date code on the
cartridge wrapper. If passed the use
by date, discard.
Always change the cartridge every
30 days or every 150 litres (100 litres
for nitrate cartridges - whichever is
sooner).
The filter should be kept out of direct
sunlight and away from other heat
sources.
Do not store the cartridges next to
household chemicals or cleaning
products.
English
In the event of your water supplier
issuing a "boil notice" (or similar
emergency indicating that your water
supply may be temporarily unsafe)
the filter system should not be used,
and any cartridge in use should be
disposed of.
to use your water filter
1 Remove lid and hopper completely
from jug. Wash hopper, lid and jug
thoroughly in warm water.
2 Remove wrapper and immerse
cartridge in cold water for 10
minutes.
3 Insert the cartridge into the hopper
and press gently to seal.
4 Fill the hopper from the tap and
allow the water to filter. Discard the
filtered water. Do this twice.
On occasions when using a new
cartridge the first few litres of water
can appear to be tinted blue/black.
This colour is due to a small amount
of carbon dust being flushed out of
the cartridge, this is not harmful as
the carbon is food grade and will
usually disappear if the cartridge is
flushed through a couple of times.
This will not affect the performance
of the cartridge.
5 Advance the dial on the underside of
the lid until it reaches '0'. Fit the lid
onto the jug.
6 Your Kenwood water filter is now
ready to use. Turn the knob
clockwise to fill.
7 After filling turn the knob anti-
clockwise. The usage indicator
advances automatically on each use.
8 The indicator shows how much
water the cartridge has filtered, so
you know when it needs changing.
