Condition of use
POLIMASK halfmasks connected to a filter can be used when:
the concentration of oxygen in the atmosphere is at least 17% per volume;
the type, characteristics and concentrations of the pollutants are known
and the toxic substance is not odourless and tasteless;
the instructions for use are sufficiently known;
users of respiratory protective devices are in good health and fully trained
in the use of this kind of equipment;
users must are beardless, without sideboards, moustaches or deep scars
on their skin near the facepiece seal of the mask itself, because this could
impede adequate seal tightness on the face;
filtering respirators cannot be used when:
the composition of the ambient atmosphere can be altered negatively
(for example, in confined spaces such as cisterns, conduits, etc);
there are oxygen enriched atmospheres or in potentially explosive
areas;
the contaminants can generate high heat in a chemical reaction with
the cartridge absorbent material.
The use of POLIMASK halfmasks with filters implies that the above conditions
for the use of filtering devices are met. In case of doubt, self-contained bre-
athing apparatuses are to be used. When the hazards call for respiratory tract
protection and also for the use of protective equipment, the compatibility of
these devices with the mask must be carefully tested. These additional protec-
tion measures must not jeopardize the full effectiveness of the respiratory pro-
tective equipment. The hazards of this kind can be the following:
-
liquid or gaseous substances which are harmful in contact with skin;
-
toxic substances which are irritating to skin;
-
radiations;
-
mechanical stress;
-
explosions in the ambient atmosphere;
-
oxygen-enriched atmosphere.
In case of doubt of the suitability of the product with reference to your inten-
ded work condition, consult the safety manager the occupational physician, or
the customer service of D.P.I. s.r.l. which is at your disposal for any assistance,
explanation, advice and information you might need. Consult the reverse of the
cover of this manual for the address and telephone numbers.
