2G/3G modem functions
The modem on board the receiver "3G CARD fig. 1" uses the mobile phone network to manage the user
codes stored in the receiver working together with the CardinTX_SW software and can also directly activate
the individual channels (relays) by calling them directly or via SMS/APP.
Attention: In receivers fitted with SIM VODAFONE-CARDIN the direct call and SMS functions are excluded.
WiFi card functions
The receiver fitted with a WF card works in a similar way to the version with a 2G/3G card and a SIM VODAFONE-
CARDIN SIM card, using the local WiFi network in place of the mobile phone network.
This configuration, which only uses the internet fore its communications connection, has unlimited connection
time with the Gateway Cardin.
To connect the receiver to the WiFi network you must have the right credentials which should be memorised in
the receiver using the software CardinTX_SW.
The WiFi card supports the following network security protocols:
• Open
• WEP-64 and WEP-128 (open mode only, NOT shared mode)
• WPA2-PSK (AES only)
• WPA1-PSK (TKIP only)
• WPA-PSK mixed mode (some access points, not all are supported)
Caution: Before installing make sure that the Wifi card is compatible with the function modes available on
the network to which you intend to connect up with.
The management of the modem functions can be found in the receiver menu "6) MODEM".
Some of the options are always present and others will be enabled according to the status of the modem.
The fields in menu "6) MODEM" will change according to the type of card inserted in the receiver. The
default setting assumes that a 2G/3G card has been inserted.
The modem functions are:
• Data connection via modem/internet - 2G/3G and WF call
A direct hook up is made with the receiver, similar to a USB, connection, which allows you to manage
the user codes and to set the functions of the receiver by means of the software CardinTX_SW.
Using the Cardin APP, which requires the Gateway for the connection, falls into the data connection category.
• Directly activating a channel via telephone call (only 2G/3G with a standard SIM card)
It is possible to activate one or more channels by calling the telephone number of the SIM on board the
modem. A validated call will be interrupted after the first 'ring' without answering therefore there are no
communications costs.
The function is inhibited when the receiver has an active connection with the Cardin Gateway Service.
The call management frequency is variable and depends on the telephone network to which you are con-
nected. The time required for the receiver to manage a new call after having just dealt with one will not be
less than 30 seconds.
• Directly activating a channel via SMS (only 2G/3G with a standard SIM card)
You can activate one or more channels via SMS, and , if required, you may receive an answer giving the
status of the channels.
