using UHU-por. Assemble the unpinned hinges (7) and apply a little UHU-por to the joint surfaces. Push the protruding hinges
attached to the control surface into the slots in the fixed panel. Secure the control surface with one drop of UHU-por at each hinge;
this is accomplished by applying a little UHU-por to the cut edge of the control surface, and spreading it out with your fingertip.
Repeat the procedure with all the model's control surfaces.
3.
Actuating the control surfaces using short servo output arms and actuating thread (2). The procedure is always the same,
regardless of the length of thread involved. First run the thread through the first hole in the horn, then through the second, then
back through the first hole. Repeat this twice more, then slip the thread through the last hole and pull it into the slit to clamp it. The
thread should be slack at this point. Now route the thread through the outer hole in the servo output arm, then through the inner
one; turn the aircraft over and slip the thread through the middle hole on the other side, and then again through the outer hole,
running towards the horn. Now proceed as described in the first section. The thread must be tensioned before you pull it into
the slit on the opposite site: this is achieved simply by pulling the thread until it is just taut. Now you can pull the thread into
the slit to clamp it. If the thread should work loose over time, or become slack due to cold conditions, this system enables you to
adjust the tension very easily. Switch the RC system on briefly and set the servos to neutral (centre). Move the control surface to
centre, and fix the actuating thread to the servo output arm with a drop of cyano.
4.
Actuating the control surfaces with long servo output arms and actuating thread (2). The procedure is always the same,
regardless of the length of thread involved. Note that the three inner holes in the servo output arm must be drilled out using a 1
mm Ø bit to accept the tensioner (8); this must be done before the servos are glued in place. A notch is also required in the servo
output arm to permit the tensioner to be rotated through a quarter-turn; the notch should be positioned to suit the direction of
winding (right or left). Insert the tensioner in the holes; the servos can now be glued in the appropriate position.
5.
Run the actuating thread through the first hole and clamp it in the slit. Repeat this procedure once. Leave the thread slack at this
point. Route the thread through the outer hole in the servo output arm, then through the hole in the tensioner. Turn the model over
and run the thread through the outer hole on the other side, running in the direction of the horn. Now proceed as described in the
first section. The thread must be tensioned before you pull it into the slit on the opposite site: this is achieved simply by
pulling the thread until it is just taut. Now you can pull the thread into the slit to clamp it. If the thread should work loose over
time, this system enables you to adjust the tension very easily. Switch the RC system on briefly and set the servos to neutral
(centre). Move the control surface to centre, and fix the actuating thread to the hole in the tensioner with a drop of cyano
6.
The tailwheel unit (9) can now be installed: cut a 1 mm wide slot in the bottom of the rudder, and glue the tailwheel unit in place
using UHU-por.
7.
The control surface horns can also be actuated indirectly using return pulleys, Order No. 2418. Each pulley should be located about
60 mm from the horn, and positioned in such a way that the thread turns through an angle of 90° .
8.
Push the wheel axle supports (10) onto the undercarriage legs, and secure them with a drop of cyano. Sand the undercarriage legs
flush with the underside of the supports when the glue has set hard.
9.
The wheel axles can now be glued in the axle supports: use parts (11) for the lightweight foam rubber wheels, Order No. 162.30, or
the wheel axles (12) for the injection-moulded wheels (13). Apply a small drop of thick cyano to the hole in the wheel axle support,
then push the axle into the hole. Ensure that the wheel axles are positioned parallel to the ground.
10.
Glue the wheel spat supports (14) to the wheel spats using UHU-por.
11.
Fit the wheels on the wheel axles, then slip the wheel spats and supports on the axles.
12.
Cut slots in the fuselage at the motor mount position, corresponding in width and length to the motor mounts (15). Glue the motor
mounts in the slots using UHU-por. Fit the retaining screws (16) through the motor's mounting lugs, then push the rubber grommets
(17) over the threaded shanks. The motor can now be attached to the motor mounts. If you are using a COMPACT 160 motor, the
mount adapter (18) can be screwed to it so that the same three-point mounting can be employed.
