GENERAL
You have bought an Ellofence electric fence energiser, but also purchased highly effective fencing
material in the form of tape/twine. This electric fence tape / twine has special conductors that conduct
electricity excellently. This material usually allows you to run long fences.
For comparison: If you only use an inexpensive standard tape, then hardly any current flows. This is
measured in ohms per meter. The lower the ohm value, the better the current flows.
This can be easily explained with a few figures. A 2.5mm thick iron wire has very good conductivity,
which means that you can use it to feed long fences with electricity, so it is ideally suited for a pasture
fence. The ohm value here is 0.04 ohms per meter. A standard tape/twine has ohm values of 14 to 15
ohms per meter. Our Ellofence qualities, on the other hand, have a value of 0.08 ohms to 0.40 ohms
per meter. So we are very close to the perfect conductivity of an iron wire.
It is generally important that the electric fence device is well grounded. Pay particular attention to groun-
ding, which is often the weak point when a fence isn't working. Please see pages 10-11
GROUNDING".
You can easily check the grounding with a tester. The ground rod on the test device is put into the
ground and the test device touches the ground rod of the electric fence. If you still see voltage on the
tester, then you need to check the grounding.
