FC1 Ex (HS) – Safety Instructions
Work on the explosion-proof unit
All work on the unit as well as charging and replacing the batteries must
be carried out outside of the hazardous areas. Only qualified persons in
the sense of DIN EN 60079-17 are allowed to open the units.
Setting into operation again after manipulating a unit
All explosion-proof equipment must be repaired by the manufacturer or by

explosion-proof specialists having been skilled by the manufacturer. Any
intervention or repair of this equipment must keep it in compliance with the
prototype test certification documents. Only original spare parts and
accessories from the manufacturer have to be used.
Damaged units
Apparently or only supposedly damaged units must never be taken into
hazardous areas. If an apparently or supposedly damaged unit is in a
hazardous area, it must be switched off immediately and removed from the
hazardous area. Unintended setting into operation must be avoided at any
rate.
Expiry of Ex operating permit (Ex certificate)
Any modification on the unit or on parts of the unit which is not approved
by the manufacturer will void the operating permit. The unit must neither
be carried into hazardous areas nor be operated there.
Use of headset in hazardous areas
The usage of a headset connected to an explosion-proof unit FC1 Ex is
strictly prohibited!
To ensure a proper explosion protection, the socket for connecting a
headset is sealed by a plastic plug. Attention: The Ex certificate for
operation of an explosion-proof handset FC1 Ex in hazardous areas will
become void, if the sealed plug is removed.
The explosion-proof handset FC1 Ex HS may only be used with the
headset order number 50 1010 5101.
The Ex approval of the handset FC1 Ex HS is limited to the protection
against gas explosions. If the handset FC1 Ex HS is used without a
headset, its connection socket for the headset must be plugged by the
original seal. Otherwise the Ex certificate will completely expire.
