Before you start
Attach safety decal
The provided decal offer important safety information
about articulating hedge trimmers. Do not operate, or al-
low others to operate, this machine unless the decal is
properly installed.
1. Clean the outer tube so the decal will adhere properly.
2. Peel the backing off of the multiple warning decal and attach
it below the similar decal on the lower part of outer tube.
Make sure the decal faces up and that it is legible from the
operator's position.
Install the cutter and gearcase assembly
The cutter blades are very sharp. Do not handle the cut-
ter assembly unless the blade cover is in place.
IMPORTANT
Always wear gloves when working with or near the cutter as-
sembly.
1. Make sure the cutter bar is locked in the storage/transport
position (folded back) and the blade cover is installed over
the cutter blades.
2. Insert the end of the outer tube into the hedge trimmer cutter
gearcase clamp assembly and push until it bottoms. The out-
er tube should go into the gearcase about 35 mm. If the outer
tube stops before bottoming, rotate it until you feel the inner
driveshaft engage the gearcase. Then push the outer tube
all the way in.
3. Rotate the gearcase assembly so that index screw aligns
with the hole in the outer tube. With the powerhead in the up-
right position, the cutter assembly will appear to be upside
down (while in the storage/transport position).
4. Tighten the hedge trimmer gearcase index screw first, then
the gearcase clamp screw.
5. Adjust the guard/cutter rest so that the tip of the cutter bar fits
into the support notch. Make sure the cutter bar also lifts out
of the notch easily. Then tighten the guard clamp screw.
