3. ASSEMBLING THE HEADLIGHT CAMERA SYSTEM
Before continuing, remove the protective caps.
To attach the fiber optic cable, insert the instrument end into the headlamp
module until it snaps in place (figure 1).
clips on both sides and rear of the headband.
To remove the cable, grasp the body of the module in one hand and the metal
part of the cable in the other and pull up. Do not pull the cable by its legs.
Remember, the fiber optic cable is made of glass fibers. When adjusting the
cable on the headband, do not bend the cable at an angle of more than 60
degrees.
Next, place the headband on your head; you can make size adjustments by
turning the knob on the rear of the headband until it feels comfortable. For more
comfort you can adjust the cross band.
On the sweatband, the adjustments are made by the rear and the cross member.
Open the sweatband at the rear and adjust until comfort is reached; press unit
together with the Velcro etched.
Connect the camera cable to the CCU at the terminal marked "camera," make
sure not to use excessive force.
Once the headlamp module and cables are connected, the unit is ready for use.
Adjustment to the module can be made by grasping the module, (take care not o
touch the lens), and move it in the required position. Use a sterile cloth to avoid
contamination. If the picture is not centered on the monitor, the camera module
can be adjusted by tilting it forward or backward to center the picture. If the
image is not in focus, thread the lens by hand clockwise until it stops turning.
Point camera at a target 18" away and thread lens until image is in focus. The
system comes with gown clips to relieve the weight of the cable from the
headband. One gown clip is attached below the shoulder; the other is used to
connect the cable to the surgeon's gown. This eliminates the risk of tripping or
dropping the illuminator end.
The metal portion of the fiber optic cable (at the lightsource end) gets hot
during operation. Allow cooling for a minimum of five minutes outside the
illuminator before touching.
