DA6 Antenna Distribution Amplifier

The Samson DA6 (or, for "X" frequencies, DA6X) UHF Antenna Distribution Amplifier is an optional com-
ponent of the Synth Series 6 System. The DA6 allows up to four UR6D UHF receivers to share either of
two pairs of antennas. It facilitates faster, more compact setups by reducing the number of antennas
while increasing the transmission range by adding 3 dB of RF gain for a stronger, quieter signal.
Main DA6 / DA6X features include:
• Four phantom powered rear-panel antenna inputs (two for channel A and two for channel B).
• Eight rear-panel antenna outputs (four for channel A and four for channel B) which can be
connected to up to four pairs of receiver antenna inputs using the supplied BNC connector kit.
• The addition of 3 dB of RF signal gain in order to provide a stronger, quieter signal and increase the
effective transmission range.
• A front-panel power switch and power indicator LED.
• Automatically works off any AC power voltage from 100 - 240 volts.
• Rack-mountable in any standard 19" rack for portability and easy integration.
• Rugged construction for reliable operation in even the most demanding performance environments.
NOTE: All descriptions below are the same for the model DA6X UHF Antenna Distribution Amplifier
1: Antenna Indicator - This display panel shows the current status of the four connected antennas
(A1, A2, B1, B2). Each antenna indicator uses three colors for this purpose, lighting green when
powered antennas are connected, orange if non-powered (dipole) antennas are connected or if no
antennas are connected, and red if the antenna is shorted.
2: Power switch - Use this to turn the main power on and off. When the DA6 is on, one of the Antenna
Indicators (see #1 above) will be lit.

1: Antenna A and B connectors - Connect a pair of tuned dipole antennas (or cabling from remote
powered antennas) to either of these connector pairs. Use the dipole or powered antennas provided with
your Synth Series 6 System—third-party antennas should not be substituted. These antenna mountings
are phantom powered; take care not to short them. See the "Setting Up and Using the DA6" section on
the next page for information about antenna installation and positioning.
2: Antenna Output connectors - Use the supplied BNC connectors to connect each of these antenna
outputs to the "Antenna A" and "Antenna B" inputs of your receivers. For more information, see the
"Setting Up and Using the DA6" section on the next page.
3: Ground screw -- If required, a grounding strap can be connected from this unpainted screw to an
earthed source such as a water pipe. See the "Grounding Techniques" section on page 14 in this
manual for more information.
4. AC input - Connect the supplied standard 3-pin "IEC" plug here. The DA6 contains automatic current
and voltage sensing circuitry and so can accept any mains current from 100 - 240 volts without the need
to set a selector switch. The DA6 must be connected to a grounded 3-pin AC outlet for correct operation.
