Transporting water in the Fire Kettle
DE
With your Fire Kettle made of stainless steel transporting water is no challenge. The supplied screw cap
EN
with silicone seal provides for leakproof locking of the spout. Please keep in mind the following notes:
• Only use the delivered screw cap for sealing the Petromax Fire Kettle.
FR
• The screw cap is only suitable for transporting water.
• Only use the screw-on steam whistle in order to heat up water.
• Please note the maximum filling level of 0.75 L (fk-le75) or 1.5 L (fk-le150).
• Solely transport water that has cooled down. The kettle cap must never be screwed on when there is
(still) hot water in the kettle. The emerging pressure could damage the material or cause explosion.
After use
Empty your Fire Kettle completely after each use. The kettle should ideally be left open for a few hours
before transport to let the inside dry as well. You can extinguish the fire in the fire bowl with water
or let it burn out. Let the ashes cool down before removing them from the fire bowl, then dispose of
them properly. Never throw hot ashes in the household waste!
Due to the heat of the fire the Fire Kettle and the corresponding fire bowl will discolour. This is normal
for stainless steel and no material defect. Please note that even on stainless steel rust may develop.
This might happen for instance due to ash residues that have not been completely removed from the
fire bowl. As ash is hygroscopic, it binds water also from air humidity and forms an alkaline solution.
This lye corrodes any type of stainless steel and promotes the development of rust. Also, steel and
steel chips extract oxygen from the passive layer of the stainless steel which can cause rust. After use,
a layer of soot will have developed on the outer surface of your Petromax Fire Kettle. You can remove
it with a mild dishwashing soap or with the Bio-cleaner for soot and fire traces. To avoid soot on your
hands we advise you to touch only the handles of the kettle. Dry the Fire Kettle well after cleaning.
