sure the blade sits flat. Install the cupped washer with
the raised centre away from the blade and make sure
it sits well into the gear shaft.
■ Align the two hooks on cupped washer into blade
washer holes.
■ Install the blade retainer nut until finger tight.
■ Place the combination wrench through the hole in
the upper flange washer and the hole in the gear
head. Using the wrench, turn the blade retainer nut
counterclockwise tight, recommended torque is 25
N.M.

When using the string head, the blade guard must be
attached with the grass defl ector.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of serious personal injury, always
stop the engine before making any adjustments such
as changing cutting heads.
WARNING
Be certain all knobs and fasteners are fully tightened
before operating the equipment. Periodically check for
tightness during use to avoid serious injury.
REMOVING THE TRI-ARC™ BLADE
■ Stop the engine.
■ Place the combination wrench through the hole in
the upper flange washer and the hole in the gear
head. Using the wrench, turn the blade retainer nut
clockwise to remove.
■ Remove the blade washer, cupped washer, and blade.
INSTALLING THE STRING HEAD
■ Place the combination wrench through the hole in the
upper flange washer and the hole in the gear head.
■ Align the nut in string head to gear box shaft.
■ Turn the string head counterclockwise by hand to
tighten, recommend torque 6 N.M.
■ Insert the two latches on the grass deflector to blade
guard holes.
■ Align the screw on the grass deflector in blade guard
hole. Use the combination wrench to tighten the screw

securely.
NOTE: Store the disassembled parts together for later
use.
■ Install the cutting line. Refer to "String replacement" in
the manual for additional information.
OPERATION
Do not allow familiarity with this product to make you
careless. Remember that a careless fraction of a
second is suffi cient to infl ict serious injury.
Always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with
side shields when operating power tools. Failure to do
so could result in objects being thrown into your eyes
resulting in possible serious injury.
Keep all bystanders, especially children and pet, at
least 15 m away.
Do not use any attachments or accessories not
recommended by the manufacturer of this product. The
use of attachments or accessories not recommended
can result in serious personal injury.
Beware of the emission of exhaust gases.
FUELING AND REFUELING
■ Clean the surface around the fuel cap to prevent
contamination.
■ Loosen the fuel cap slowly. Rest the cap on a clean
surface.
■ Pour the fuel carefully into the tank. Avoid spillage.
■ Clean and inspect the gasket prior to replacing the fuel
cap.
■ Replace the fuel cap immediately and hand tighten it.
Wipe up any fuel spillage.
NOTE: It is normal for the engine to emit smoke during
and after the fi rst use.
