Building instructions
Before you start gluing parts together, use a servo tester or the radio control system to
check that the servos are working properly.
Fit the horn onto the taileron pivot rod and glue it to the root face of the taileron panel,
applying glue to the whole of the joint area. You may need to file out the hole at a slight
angle to ensure that the parts mate squarely.
Caution:
The holes in the taileron horns must lie parallel to the axis of the pivot rod, as shown.
Glue the plywood taileron pivot supports in the fuselage, taking care not to glue the pivot
rod in place at the same time. Our tip: grease the taileron pivot rod lightly, apply glue the
supports, push them into the openings, and fit the tailerons. Check that the taileron root
face is parallel to the fuselage root fairing, then hold the parts in this position until the
glue has set hard.
Fit the washer on the pivot rod and slip the rod through the two plywood supports in the
fuselage. Fit the collet and tighten the clamping screw; check that the tailerons still
swivel smoothly.
Apply epoxy to the interlocking parts of the wing and fuselage, and glue the parts
together. Take care over this: on the one hand the adhesive must be applied to the full
area of the joints for strength, on the other you should avoid excess glue being forced
out of the joints and spoiling the painted surfaces.
