IMPORTANT REMARKS
TO REDUCE THE RISK OF SEVERE INJURY OR DEATH READ THE FOLLOWING REMARKS CAREFULLY BEFORE PROCEEDING
WITH THE INSTALLATION. PAY PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO ALL THE PARAGRAPHS MARKED WITH THE SYMBOL
READING THESE IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS COULD COMPROMISE THE CORRECT WORKING ORDER OF THE SYSTEM.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
• These instructions are aimed at professionally qualified "INSTALLERS
OF ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT" and must respect the local standards
and regulations in force. All materials used must be approved and must
suit the environment in which the installation is situated.
• This appliance must be used exclusively for the purpose for which it has
been made. "i.e. for automating rolling shutters and sun blinds".
Incorrect installation make give rise to dangerous situations. Any non
authorised modifications are to be considered improper and therefore
dangerous. The manufacturer accepts no liability for situations arising
from the use of an electrical installation which does not conform to the
local standards and regulations in force and in particular when the earthing
circuit is not efficient.
• The fixed position command device must be positioned in sight, away
from moving parts and at a height of at least 1.5 m.
• Do not allow children to play with command devices.
• Disconnect the power supply before beginning any routine maintenance
or cleaning operations.
• In case of failure or operating anomalies switch off the power at the mains
and call the after sales service.
USE
The device is suitable for the automation of rolling shutters and sun
blinds.
THIS MANUAL COVERS THE FOLLOWING MODELS
RS050 - Operator Ø50 with manual travel limits.
RS040 - Operator Ø40 with manual travel limits
reserved. Unauthorised copying or use of the information contained in this document is punishable by law
RSM50 - Operator Ø50 with manual travel limits and hand crank operation.
RS950 - Operator Ø50 with electronic travel limits and incorporated

MECHANICAL ACCESSORIES
The following accessories are available for installations on different struc-
tures:
QAP
- Adaptors and pulleys.
QAM
- Pins and supports.
QAMS - Accessories for special applications.
OPERATING FREQUENCY
The radio programmer uses a reception frequency that conforms to the
essential requirements laid down by the directive 99/05/CE to which the
technical reference standards have been applied. The operating frequency
is 433 MHz and is suitable for use in all European community countries.
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
The Cardin operators are made using the best materials and the most up
to date mechanical and electronic technology.
The main components are:
- self-braking motor with incorporated capacitor 230Vac 50Hz;
- silent running epicycloidal reduction unit;
- mechanical travel limits;
- the RS950 version is fitted with an incorporated radio programmer and
encoder controlled travel limits;
- tubular roller container in spray painted steel;
- fastening head in reinforced nylon fibre.
The roller motor is not suitable for continuous operation. A thermal overload
protector has been fitted and this will cut in if the motor overheats following
a period of continuous operation greater than 4 min.

IMPORTANT REMARKS
The motor can be used again after a period of not less than 10 min and after
this reset the motor will work at reduced revolutions.
Regular operation will only be available after the motor has completely cooled
(requires about 60 minutes).
INSTALLATION (fig. 1)
The range of Cardin operators is supported by a series of mechanical acces-
sories which allow installation on all types of structure. Before installing the
appliances check that the adaptors, pulleys, pins and fastening supports are
compatible with the type of structure that is to be automated.
Attention!
• Do not rotate the command ring "6" before you have installed the motor.
• Never hammer on the pins.
• Do not drill the roller container with the motor inserted.
• Fastening the shutter/sun blind must be carried out using screws which do
not protrude for more than 1 mm inside the roller pipe "det. 7" fig. 1, in order
to avoid mechanical interference between the fixed and rotating parts.
• Never hammer on the square pin "4" of the motor when inserting it into the
pipe.
• Never hammer on the pins or the motor pulley as this could damage the roller
motor.
Insert the motor "1" into the pipe "2" until the end fits up against the rest
of the travel limit command ring "5". If a pipe with a thickness of less than
1 mm is used you are advised to fasten it to the motor pulley "3" using two
screws in order to avoid the tube sliding sideways or the motor moving
out of square. The end "8" is to be fastened to a normal bracket that has
a holding cap fitted. The roller motor square pin "4" should be fastened to
one of the supports supplied on request or to any other suitable solution
for the foreseen type of use.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTION RS040-RS050-RSM50
Before connecting the appliance make sure that the voltage and
frequency rated on the data plate conform to those of the mains
supply. An all pole trip switch with at least 3 mm between the con-
tacts must be installed between the unit and the mains supply.
• The appliance works off a 230V 50Hz power supply.
• The roller motor must be wired to an efficient earthing system.
The RS040-RS050-RSM50 versions can be controlled via radio using
Cardin radio programmers type RP449BNA0. The radio programmer is able
to memorise the functions of 20 different transmitters and communicates
with those of the series S449.
Attention! Connecting multiple motors to one radio programmer
is not allowed.
• GR-YW: green/yellow wire; earth wire.
• BL: blue wire; common power wire for both senses of rotation.
• BLK: black wire; live power wire for one of the senses of rotation (opposite
to the sense of rotation supplied by the brown wire).
• BR: brown wire; live power wire for one of the senses of rotation (opposite
to the sense of rotation supplied by the black wire).
• TS: All pole circuit breaker.
