! do not attempt to adjust the knives with
cutter block screws C, which are pre-set at
manufacturing
Adjusting planing depth 7
- turn knob D in "+"/"-" direction for increasing/decreasing
planing depth
- use indicator E as reference
- always select a shallow planing depth and repeat the
planing and adjusting process until the required depth
is reached
Chip outlet 8
- select desired chip outlet side (left or right) with switch
F
- connect vacuum cleaner to selected chip outlet G as
illustrated
- one may also connect dust bag P to the selected chip
outlet as illustrated
! do not attempt to remove any obstructions from
the chip outlet while knives are rotating
Park rest H 9
- protects workpiece from damage when tool is put aside
- will automatically fold backwards when planing
Operating the tool
- adjust planing depth
- connect plug to power source
- place tool on workpiece
! ensure that only the front shoe rests on the
workpiece and that the knives do not touch it
- switch on the tool by first pressing knob J 2 (= safety
switch which cannot be locked) and then pulling trigger
K 2
! before the knives reach the workpiece, the tool
should run at full speed
! while working, always hold the tool at the grey-
coloured grip area(s) q
- hold the tool firmly with both hands and guide it forward
in a continuous stroke
- use the tool with its base-plate on the workpiece
- do not tilt the tool in order to avoid unwanted planing
marks
! before switching off the tool, you should lift it from
the workpiece
- switch off the tool by releasing trigger K
Planing rabbets w
- select required planing depth
- select rabbeting depth by using rabbeting depth
adjuster Q
- place tool on workpiece
- start planing
- maximum rabbeting width 82 mm
- maximum rabbeting depth 8 mm
APPLICATION ADVICE
When planing one may use a dust bag
For chamfering edges use the V-groove L in the front
shoe e
- set knob D to position "0" for chamfering edges similar
to selected groove
- for larger grooves turn knob D to select the required
planing depth
! always test out first on a piece of scrap material
When planing rabbets you will achieve better results by
using a parallel guide to adjust rabbeting width r

This tool is not intended for professional use
Always keep tool and cord clean (especially ventilation
slots M 2 )
! disconnect the plug before cleaning
If the tool should fail despite the care taken in
manufacturing and testing procedures, repair should
be carried out by an after-sales service centre for SKIL
power tools
- send the tool undismantled together with proof of
purchase to your dealer or the nearest SKIL service
station (addresses as well as the service diagram of the
tool are listed on www.skil.com)
Be aware that damage due to overload or improper
handling of the tool will be excluded from the warranty
(for the SKIL warranty conditions see www.skil.com or
ask your dealer)

Do not dispose of electric tools, accessories and
packaging together with household waste material
(only for EU countries)
- in observance of European Directive 2012/19/EC
on waste of electric and electronic equipment and
its implementation in accordance with national law,
electric tools that have reached the end of their life
must be collected separately and returned to an
environmentally compatible recycling facility
- symbol 5 will remind you of this when the need for
disposing occurs
NOISE / VIBRATION
Measured in accordance with EN 62841 the sound
pressure level of this tool is 88.0 dB(A) and the sound
power level 99.0 dB(A) (uncertainty K = 3 dB), and
the vibration < 2.5 m/s² (triax vector sum; uncertainty
K = 1.5 m/s²)
The vibration emission level has been measured in
accordance with a standardised test given in EN 62841;
it may be used to compare one tool with another and as
a preliminary assessment of exposure to vibration when
using the tool for the applications mentioned
- using the tool for different applications, or with different
or poorly maintained accessories, may significantly
increase the exposure level
- the times when the tool is switched off or when it is
running but not actually doing the job, may significantly
reduce the exposure level
! protect yourself against the effects of vibration by
maintaining the tool and its accessories, keeping
your hands warm, and organizing your work
